Voters, this is important stuff! The U.S. Postal Service has changed how it processes mail, and it could affect whether your ballot will be counted. Vote early if you can!

Tips for mailing your San Francisco ballot. A postmark is an official imprint that indicates where and when the U.S. Postal Service accepted your mailed ballot. The Department of Elections uses the USPS postmark to decide if you mailed your ballot by the Election Day deadline. If it's near Election Day, do not use a mailbox. Your ballot might not be counted. If you must mail it, get a same-day postmark at a post office. If you're not absolutely sure your ballot will be postmarked in time,
do not mail it! Instead, use a drop box or go to a polling place.

I dropped my 2024 ballot in a blue USPS mailbox in Brooklyn on Fri, Nov 1, 2024. Election Day was Tue, Nov 4, and in December I received this letter dated Nov 25.

$8 million is going to four measures on the ballot for the S.F. election on June 2. Most of that is funding dueling business-tax measures: The “overpaid CEO tax,” Prop. D, and a competing measure placed on the ballot in hopes of sinking it, Prop. C.

This protects essential government services by restoring a voter-approved tax on large companies with the biggest gap between what they pay their top executive and their typical workers. This will raise about $250 million to $350 million every year. It does not tax small or struggling local businesses. Vote through June 2, 2026.

The SF Chronicle is NO on Prop B, and so are we! Proposition B strips voters of their right to choose the candidates they want and permanently disqualifies diverse, experienced leaders from serving our communities

San Francisco election season is here, and so is a flood of information competing for your attention and trust. Here are our tips for finding election resources you can actually rely on, including our trusted nonpartisan voter guide.

Election information you can trust is out there. But it's probably not what's flooding your mailbox and feed. How can you find it?

Use unbiased resources. There is election information put out by groups that aren’t aligned with political parties or candidates — and who put voters first. It’s no surprise we recommend our voter guide at lwvsf.org/vote! The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan nonprofit that’s been empowering voters and defending democracy for over 100 years.

Before trusting an advertisement or mailing, find out who paid for it and what they stand to gain. Look up campaign finance information for local races at campaign.sfethics.org, state at
cal-access.sos.ca.gov, and federal at fec.gov/data. News articles might explain who backs a candidate or proposition, but check who funds the outlet too.

League of Women Voters of San Francisco - No on Prop C. This gives bigger businesses a big tax break, and our city really can't afford that right now. Already, critical government programs are being cut. If this passes, the city would lose about $30 million to $40 million every
year. Lowering business taxes now would only make things worse for San Franciscans. Vote through June 2, 2026.
