Yes, feel free to use my art for protest posters. Please, no altering the drawing or text. And I know many other cartoonists offer this as well- just ask them.
If you want to use art for your protest poster, many artists don't mind sharing, if you do them the courtesy of asking @anntelnaes.bsky.social
Fantastic thread - I recommend reading it from the start, but if you want to skip the copyright review and go straight to copyright termination rights (a GOOD thing), start here.
Simply put, "termination of transfer" is the statutory right to void any contract you've signed to transfer your copyright to someone else. In the USA, the 1976 Copyright Act introduced a 35-year termination right.
It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel... hopeful? Really nice read from Reactor.
Our Anime Spot checks into Apocalypse Hotel, in which robots keep a posh Tokyo hotel running long after Earth has been abandoned by humans; let's discuss Adventure Time, the cozy apocalypse genre, and finding hope and solace in helping others
When I was a kid in the '70s, there were so many chestnut trees in New England the fallen nuts were as ubiquitous as acorns. I haven't seen a native chestnut tree in a long, long time. These data centers are a blight of a different kind. Fuck those guys.
In case anybody wants a source for this story that *isn't* on a website using AI and doesn't read like it was written by AI, here ya go: heritageheadlines.com/rare-west-vi...
Right after the Cornell Jane Doe story broke, a site called JaneDoeMerch.com started selling I Am Jane Doe hats and T-shirts, claiming the proceeds would go to Jane Doe's legal fund. Her lawyer knows nothing about it. Read my story on Jane Doe merch at @wired.com: www.wired.com/story/meet-t...

YASSSSSSS! I despise my partner's vehicle. While it does have knobs, the knobs CHANGE FUNCTION depending upon what mode the underlying panel is in (climate versus entertainment). Clearly, UI design is a dying art, but it should be paramount in a machine that can kill someone if you're not looking.
[car dealership waiting room] Me: [chanting] knobs, knobs- Other car buyers: knobs, KNOBS Car salesman: [pounding desk] KNOBS, KNOBS, KNOBS!
Look, the Cornell 7 allegedly did the raping but that group chat had over 50 dudes in it. 50. One phone call from one guy & this poor woman doesn't have this horror put on her life. Not all men? All those men tho You wanna say not all men? Here's what you have to do bro:
Whoa, for the 50th anniversary of Songs in the Key of Life, Stevie Wonder has released four additional songs from that recording session. “We didn’t add these songs to the album, but they were part of what I was feeling and discovering as we made it.” [pitchfork.com]

OMG, not just the original post, but the comments... I'm dead.
I have separated the art from the artist and am now whipping the art to stiff peaks, after which I will gently fold it into the artist before baking at 350 til golden and puffed
Need to boost my post-to-repost ratio today... Like, above zero. #MusicMonday There's no such thing as tomorrow, only... 1..2..3... GO!

Cory Doctorow: AI’s big beasts aren’t really scared of their products. They’re scared of their competition
The US giants would love to stop battling each other and be protected from China – and they might have hit on just the narrative to make that possible, writes our tech columnist

Damned good thread...
As *tech*, AI isn't exceptional. It's not exceptionally wicked. It's not exceptionally good. Take away the accompanying, galactic-scale stock-swindle, and we'd call AI's apps "plug-ins" and we'd use them and abuse them in the same way that we've used every other technology: www.normaltech.ai 1/
I am disheartened that we have to tie ICE's unconstitutional behavior to the price of beef for some people to care, but here we are. That said, I don't think Mafia Don cares, given his chat with Joelsey Batista that helped the Brazilian beef industry. Pull on one thread and lose the whole sweater.
ICE IS ABOUT TO MAKE YOUR GROCERY BILL EVEN WORSE Cattle groups in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas say ICE raids are creating a “massive chilling effect” on legal, documented workers, disrupting meatpacking and delaying the processing of thousands of cattle. They’re reporting millions in losses.
NEW: A Texas woman died after being denied an abortion and her family sued the state and her doctors for violating her right to life. They say the ban should be struck down. It's one of several cases challenging abortion laws under state constitutional rights to life and liberty @autonomynews.co
New Lawsuits Argue That Pregnant People Also Have a Right to Life
Lawyers are fighting abortion bans in state court by establishing that pregnant people have a right to life and liberty—or at least self-defense.

After seeing this vid, I would like to see this brought to the US. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Standards for Accessible Design should be amended to require these posted at ALL public restrooms. Responsible companies should start having them before we are able to mandate them to.
This tiny fix solves a problem you never realized you had, and once you see it, it makes perfect sense.

Yikes on bikes this is terrible, and not just because of the tracking. "Some dude's GitHub" does not a secure server make. Just a matter of time before everyone's phone is pwned after installing this mess.
Thereallo, a web developer, decompiled the app and published a detailed technical breakdown of what's running under the hood. It injects code into third-party websites, loads JavaScript from someone's GitHub, and tracks your GPS, among other things.
