Honored to join the Hispanic Caucus Pre-Convention meeting this evening. Thankful to the members for their leadership and the years of work they have done to build Latino political power.

There's Democratic momentum across the country and Texas has a once in a lifetime opportunity to make huge gains and put us back on track. But we know our State Party is not the strategic partner it could be. Right now, Texas has a chance to change the script, if we choose how we want to lead.

During an all-staff meeting at a nat'l org I used to work for, the head of the org was asked who her favorite candidate was that cycle. Her answer? @halaayala.bsky.social Hear us talk the chaos of victories and her favorite people 🤫 @senlouiselucas.bluesky.bot podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...

We’re thankful for badass candidates like Kay Hagan. While you’re enjoying leftovers and Black Friday sales, listen to The Independent’s DC Bureau Chief and author Eric Garcia talk about the first race he covered as a new journalist in North Carolina. Subscribe at the link in our bio.

Super fun podcast on Senator Lloyd Bentsen who - among many other things - revolutionized campaigning in Texas with a —- wait for it —— — statewide coordinated campaign, which resulted in huge Democratic gains across the state and down ballot. thebentsenblueprint.org

I love my Obama alum pals, but… …in addition to under-investing down ballot & in party infrastructure, Obama World convinced left-leaning donors to care most about dollars-per-net-Dem-vote. Campaigns aren’t efficiency contests! They don’t award the office to candidate who spends least per-vote!

With all due respect, I feel like every time OFA alum are asked about rebuilding the Party it sort of misses an important detail. It’s giving “guy in the hotdog costume” energy

I’ve been watching the Superman movies and even years after first seeing it, I am still annoyed that Lois Lane is only interested in the glow-up version of Clark Kent. You know when Lara was telling Kal-El he’d have to live as a human to be with her, Lois was like “hold on now”

It’s like I keep saying: in order for us to be competitive, we have to start from the assumption that the State Party is a critical and central part of the political ecosystem. We lose ground when efforts attempt to replace or duplicate what we are mandated to do.

I don’t know what made me think of this but years ago I had a 1:1 meeting with a Dominion Energy exec. His office looked out on a cemetery so while we were settling in, I gestured toward the window and said “I figured you knew where all of the bodies were buried”
