I wear a lot of wool. Not set fire to the kitchen for years now. Cats and hens can dispose of evidence: they are thorough but slow. Denizen of #Wulferhampton. In real world North West England. Mostly happy.

Why am I arguing on X with a former member of the Revolutionary Communist Party? Because I am a bit drunk. I have been polite, but eff me; they were arseholes, they are arseholes, and they will be arseholes until the last syllable of recorded time.

Jason Arday. It is possible to believe that: he is is a fantasist who has embellished his CV, and a number of his detractors are being less than honest about their motives. I don't like that he appears to have exaggerated and also the nature of the attacks. Sorry. Serious for a moment.

Today was a good day. Lazed around, did food shop, prepared dinner, ate it Then: Knocked over & broke a wine glass FULL OF WINE. Cleared up & about to dishes. Felt a fart coming Of the three states of matter, I thought I'd get gas: I got liquid. Nothing damages your dignity like shitting yourself.

Tomorrow I will meet my nephew and his girlfriend in the Lamb, Lambs Coduit street. Years ago i was in there and George Melly told me to fuck off. In fairness, I had just called him Roger. Can see his point: their names are spelt differently.

Roger Mellie: the man on the telly.

This room was rescued from a now demolished house in Birmingham. One family spent less that 30 seconds looking, before leaving with on person repeating "Birmingham" in an exaggerated brummie accent.

Sycamore panelled ante room from The Grove, Harbourne. Now at the V&A

In New Statesman, Andrew Marr had a John Prescott story. Labour Party conference, late at night, Prescott bumped into Marr, jabbed his finger in his chest, "You fucking bastard! You bastard! I'll fucking have you!" Then went off. Marr confused. Seconds later Prescott appeared. "Sorry. Wrong bloke."

Brighter note. A short foray into the X-o-sphere. Took me less than two minutes to be blocked. I didn't swear, I was polite: I merely pointed out an error and suggested someone was too keen to be insulting. A personal best.

Quick moan. Work in public sector. On leave for two weeks. Was working until gone 7:30 tonight to make sure colleagues didn't have any loose ends while I'm away. All colleagues do this. Not expecting any medals, but anyone who says we piss off at 3 is a dick. Sorry. Back to normal now.

I am, btw, preparing for an interview for a new job on Thursday. I am at the breakfast bar going through my behaviour examples and drinking wine. I am trying to show myself in a good light and not use any innuendo for at least an hour during the interview. I'm absolutely buggered, aren't I?

I'll be honest. I'm reasonably educated, politically engaged, not actually thick, but have no idea what economists do. I suspect spreadsheets & forecasts are involved, but it may as well be witchcraft in an unintelligible language. I wouldn't be too surprised if goat sacrifices were involved.
