Yesterday, I arrived at #WorldCon early and decided to volunteer. It was a great experience helping to set up and at the end of the day, I got entered into a raffle and won a spot at the table talk with one of my favorite authors, @scalzi.com!

Here’s me reacting to a fire alarm that happened to go off when I was in front of the volunteer desk at #WorldCon but also, I had just won a raffle that let me attend a table talk of my choice for Thursday so let’s just say I’m reacting to that 😄

By the way, does anyone else find it funny that the character limit for alt texts is so much higher than for the post itself? I guess a picture is worth a thousand words … well, if each of those words is one letter and a space. Oh, I guess they could be two letters each if you capitalize each word. Hm, and technically, they just have to average to to characters each, and they could be emojis or abbreviations…

Related, does anyone even read these alt texts? I only have a few followers, so the chances that anyone has ever read one of mine is infinitesimally slim, but if you have, lemme know!

Guide for what genre you’re reading based on what it seems the writer was on: Valium = literary fiction Mushrooms = fantasy Amphetamines = science fiction Cocaine = thriller Acid = Phillip K. Dick

One of the fun things about taking time off before my next job is that when people ask me what I do, I tell them I’m a writer

This week, Tim Cook and I have both announced that we’re leaving Apple. Not to brag, but during our tenure, we have added a combined $3.5 billion worth of value to the company.

Tonight, an old friend reached out. It’d been years and we had such a great time catching up. Or so I thought. Turned out, she was a scam bot. On the plus side, I’m now heavily invested in an up and coming cryptocurrency

I've heard of "tsundoku", which is essentially buying more books than you could ever read. Is there a corresponding word for coming up with more ideas for stories than you could possibly write?

One thing that Viable Paradise 25 has taught me to say: I'm a good writer! (It did not teach me how to say that without feeling abject terror and embarrassment, but baby steps, baby steps...)

What word did you mispronounce for the longest time? Mine is "misshapen", which I thought was pronounced like "miss-happen" as in, it happened wrong...

I don't think I'm a morning person or a night person so much as I'm different people during those times. Morning Mach: experiencing a nostalgia for the internet of 2010s with blogs, tweets, and social media dominated by friends, not feeds. Night Mach: I wanna see my own brain in a jar.
