The most recent updates to my Meta Quest 3S make using a link cable with PC so irritating now. It expects me to keep my headset plugged in when not in use. It doesn't know when I purposefully disconnect linking, & I have to restart it often for it to recognize it's plugged in.

My theory as to why Sony is not doing physical disks anymore is because they spent & lost so much money on shitty live service projects (not to mention 3.6 billion on just Bungee alone.) So in order to save costs, they're cutting disks & going full price on digital at all times.
