SHOW ME YOUR WEBCOMIC I will read at least one chapter of every webcomic shared with me! I'll say something nice about each one I read, and give feedback if you want it! Show me your hard work!

Junior yr math. Had a great soph math teacher who consistently gave us time to work on homework for the last 10 minutes of class w/the explicit idea that we get up and talk to each other (or him). Didn't care if I doodled or stared out the window. Got a B for the first time in years! Next year...

As a science fiction writer I really fucking resent tech bros for ruining the phrase "artificial intelligence." 80 years of it being all about cool androids and interesting computers destroyed by five years of "Spicy autocorrect making everything shittier for money." NEVER FORGIVE.

I tested the winds, and it's that time again... ✨🎉 commissions now OPEN for May/June!! 🎉✨ shoot me an email at amyking.art@gmail.com along with the type of commission you're interested in and a brief overview (2-3 sentences max) of the subject and I'll get back to you with info on the next steps!

an image advertising some art commissions! these include a colorful girl with clouds for hair and a shimmery pink dress, a green scaled woman with even more green hair piled on her head with mushrooms and flowers, and a rogueish orc like man holding a bitten apple and wearing worn leather clothing. full bodies are 175usd, half bodies are 100usd, and bust shots are $65usd. the bottom text also assures I can do anthros, armor, highly detailed clothing, and other stuff too!

Really nice thread about the point of the MetGala and the idea of fashion as art. (I think fashion is art! And I think the arts often get shat on by people who view them as consumable goods and/or pointless status symbols because they are alienated from the world of making stuff.)

Pierre Bourdieu once argued that the question of whether something is art isn't answered by the artist's intention or even the object itself. Instead, the quality of being "art" is conferred by a community — curators, dealers, auction houses, audiences, etc. 🧵

Someone on Threads writes: "The Met Gala feels like real dystopian shit.

People can’t afford groceries or gas. But we’re going to celebrate this event which is nothing more than wealth porn."

The way profit maxxing corpo culture has invaded every form of art through algorithms pushing people into daily posting is really weighing on me lately. Efficiency and regularity of making "content" being prized above all else feels so grim, man.

Once again the power to use my own art/OCs as a portrait in a video game has compelled me and I spent a week making this instead of just playing Pathfinder WotR! (Had a blast testing this in game and actually playing is gonna be my weekend now, lmao!)

Two tigers circle a half elf playing a magical tune on a violin while a circus audience looks on. The violinist looks confident, even scornful and the tiger's eyes appear to glow with the same color as the magic.

Sometimes you really just need to break out the gouache and colored pencils and make some weird little creatures again. I did a bunch of these guys in like 2024 and they're just perfect little bite size art snacks. Just shapes and colors.

L-R row 1 : Round yellow guy with a smile under his raccoon mask-like face. Has spikes and a stubby tail. Next to him is a sort of yellow caterpillar with big blue eyes and soft horns on his head and tail. He has never done anything wrong in his life. Row 2: Sort of a purple cat, but the face is a long oblong with 3 eyes kinda like a traffic light. Then a simple block-like blue guy with no face. Looks like he's thinking about something or maybe he lost his keys and can't find them. Then another blocky-thing, like a rhomboid with a hole in it. This one is green and has bat wings up top and teeny tiny feet at the bottom. Row 3: Kinda like a blue shrimp-caterpillar with little nubby legs and a bunch of yellow eyes going down its body. Then a purple beetle-thing with a cluster of yellow eyes and knife-like horn and four absolutely useless nubs for legs. And last a red bull-like no-face blocky-guy, with horns and an impish tail.

Constable Earstripe. I’m currently reading the „Saint of Steel“ series by T. Kingfisher. It has romance, hilarity, absurdity, horror, and badgerfolk, a.k.a. gnoles! I’m also working on a gouache brushset for Procreate, which this was made with. =)

Digital gouache painting Constable Earstripe from T.Kingfisher‘s Saint of Steel Series. He is a gnole (essentially, badgerfolk), and is bipedal and clad in leather armour and carrying a spear.

I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.

Went out to (try) to see the Blood Moon last might with friends and decided I should give my oc with eclipse-theming a blood moon fit. Finn is usually more of a solar eclipse theme but they can have a little blood moon as a treat. I'm sure they'll be so, so normal about it!
