Retired from a lifetime of writing anything and everything, all signed by someone else. Now I write only in my own voice. Public libraries, hungry kids, movies and music, healthcare and objective truth matter. I live in a scam nation, but not forever.

OK, the President is a money launderer. But when he’s a proven rapist, pedophile, murderer, thief, traitor, racist, hate monger, gangster, ignoramus, fraud, grifter, cheat, narcissist and liar, it’s not so shocking. Maybe we should be grateful. He’s shown us what rich people really are.

It would have been helpful if The NY Times had spent as much time analyzing the planning for the overthrow of democracy by fascists as it has the after-party debates within the DSA.

If we’re talking about Dr. Fauci, we’re not talking about concentration camps, billions of stolen tax dollars, manipulating energy stock prices with a war that has no purpose, health and foreign policy killing kids, or massive racism or blatant corruption or tyranny. Which is just what they want.

CDC announced the worst epidemic in the US is not measles or cyclosporiasis but is, in fact, stupid. While stupid has never disappeared in the US, it has grown dramatically since 2016 and is now killing people worldwide. The worst symptom of stupid is extreme confidence and susceptibility to lies.

When a President is wholly corrupt, the courts, Congress, media, law enforcement, business, the military become corrupt because the worst criminals and hacks see no one is guarding the door - regulation and law no longer exist. The people are the only hope left. Strike or freedom dies.

Republicans say “we stand for fiscal responsibility.”They’ve incurred 25% of the nation’s total debt under Trump for billionaire tax cuts, sweetheart contracts for oligarch pals and Trump kids, gaudy memorials and a private army for torturing people of color and ruining elections. Trillions, stolen.

Madison, Federalist Papers #62, says a good government is one committed to the people’s happiness above all else, and that has the experience and competence to do that job well. So if someone asks what the Founders would give the current regime for a grade, tell them a big, fat F.

The Senate - The only employer in the country that lets you disappear for weeks with no explanation and doesn’t fire you. But I suppose with this Senate, it doesn’t really matter if you’re there, or for that matter if you exist. Except someone has to cash the bribery checks.

Sen. Chris Murphy: "Right now the biggest threat to this country are not a handful of House candidates in New York, it is the president of the United States who is trying to destroy American democracy."

I am the luckiest guy on the planet, because I had the best man who ever lived for a dad. Now I can see you rolling your eyes at my hyperbole. But note, I didn’t say he was perfect. No one is. But ask anyone who knew him and they’ll tell you: He was as close as it gets. And I really miss him.

The best boss I ever had once told me, “the secret to success is hiring people smarter than you.” He did not say, “The secret to success is hiring people who will constantly kiss your ass and tell whatever lies you ask them to tell.” No wonder our clueless leader fails at everything he touches.

Orwell was right. The Department of Justice is now the Department of Revenge. The Dept. of Health is now the Dept. of Quackery. Education is Ignorance. State is now Corruption. And Defense is now War - actually renamed, but maybe needing a modifier, like Dept. of Incompetent and Racist War.

Why don’t they remove him? Because the thieves are getting rich from his crimes. Because the racists and rapists can run wild. Because the grifters can maintain their scams. He lets haters hate, the corrupt grow rich, the Nazis kill the young and weak. Why would they want him gone?

"The mere existence of trillionaires is a major political and economic problem, probably the defining issue of our time," writes @gabrielzucman.bsky.social. "When the power of wealth is wielded by sociopaths, the consequences are a matter of life and death."

The era of trillionaires will be dire for democracy. Here is how we can fight back | Gabriel Zucman

There is a fundamental tension between extreme wealth and the very possibility of democracy. That’s because extreme wealth is always an extreme power

I just read again someone posting how amazing it is Trump has been able to bring us down so far. But it’s not amazing. We have no institutions not controlled by his corrupt allies or his organization. And we have no will to organize civil resistance to drive him out. It’s actually been easy for him.

Went to the supermarket today. Tried an experiment: Added it up as they checked my stuff, not looking at the register. Based it on the prices six months ago. Total in my head - about $93. Actual total - $139. Not exactly science, but close enough. Thanks GOP voters!
