🧵1) There is a type of book. A theme, but it's more than that. The two immediate examples that come to mind are Red Rising, and Wool (which I just finished). Deep world-bulding, horrifying generational betrayal. Deep detail and characters you absolutely connect with. And resistance. I love these.
If your only lens for the quality of a film based on a long form text source material is fealty to the source material, it’s not film criticism. You’re not open to the possibilities of interpretation in a different medium, and aren’t considering the limitations of the medium for public consumption.

There are also people w/in DSA, for example, who think the Democratic Party is the only reasonable vehicle for power.
Thinking about the time I was sitting in the stands of a Hudson Valley Renegades (high-A) game and this woman next to me said that the new shortstop was overhyped and wasn’t going to make it. That was George Lombard Jr, who just hit a homer in his first game for the Yankees.
