Hate when Hazel is playing and then I go to throw the ball/toy one more time and she looks at it sail forth, then back at me, like, what are you even *doing*, loser?

As I put Hazel through dog kumon (training & "enrichment") I am coming to accept that she might be smart AND lazy. Well, I always say work smarter not harder so hats off to Hazel.

If it was a Barbara Pym festival you'd still have parsons or vicars but also archeologists and spinster secretaries of the archeology society.

It's the Jane Austen Festival in Bath. There are fops and parsons and any number of young Miss Bennetts cluttering the sidewalks.

Someone tied up these dogs next to the firehouse and they barked their heads off at my Hazel. I like how she just looked at them like they were losers.

This movie is lots of fun & perfect for the theater. My parents & I went with my sis & her kid. The kid rarely wants to watch non-YT media but this was too funny not to get swept up by.

COYOTE VS. ACME is just shockingly good. A tribute to the greatness of Chuck Jones, attached to the kind of solid, funny, properly structured comedy they mostly don’t make anymore. Plays great in a theater. The idea that someone was willing to trade this movie for a tax break is genuinely repulsive

This summer I discovered what I call The Chipmunk Superhighway in Prospect Park and I love seeing them but Hazel is mostly Mountain Cur and seeing them drives her insane. We live in NYC. We go to TJ's for snacks. Calm down.

Hazel & I have met a guy whose dog is named Winston. Can't decide if I should ask if he's named after Churchill or the cigarette.

Hazel's rescue is having a contest where your dog's photo can be voted into the 2027 calendar. You bet your ass I took her to the park for a photo shoot. A guy saw me w the camera & said I should go see the hawk he just saw. I said Hazel is a hunting dog & that wasn't a good idea.

Hazel is very food motivated, which is the polite, Western way of putting it. The Taiwanese way is e-gui-- hungry ghost. Fitting for ghost month. Here she is on the cloth I hid treats in. Because it still smells of them.

I'm still training Hazel, so she doesn't always walk so nicely on the leash, especially when she gets overstimulated in Prospect Park. Today a woman walked by w her perfect dogs & said VERY LOUDLY "thank you for walking SO nicely" after Hazel got excited to see dogs, like she's never seen one.

I mean, come on.

Our dog, Hazel, came to NYC from Bowling Green, Kentucky. I knew she was a little bit country, but after learning exactly which shelter she was at I saw an instagram post about her that said she used to live in an RV and was a camping expert. Maybe this is why she goes nuts for grass!

Obviously, thinking about possible costume ideas for Hazel for any of the NYC doggie Halloween parades. Also, can't wait for next year's Bark in the Park with the Brooklyn Cyclones so Hazel be in the pup parade and run the bases.

We adopted a dog yesterday! She's 1 and some change years old and we've named her Hazel but we also call her Hazelnut (bc she's a little silly), Little Miss Waggy Tail, Little Miss Too Cute, and when she threw herself down into grass and mud Little Miss Too Silly.

Spent more than two weeks cat sitting a perfect cat and now that I'm back in NY I can't help wondering what she's doing right now. Luckily, she had a fairly consistent schedule so I'm guessing she's in the laundry hamper having her morning snooze after much night business.

I have a Brother monochrome inkjet printer (writers, iykyk) and when the ! came on saying some shit about "low toner" I patted the printer and whispered, "you can still do it, baby, don't listen to Big Toner." And it did.

It's cute to wear a Gritty t-shirt in Philadelphia. When you're in an entirely different city the next day but couldn't change because of late hotel check-in, it suddenly feels deranged to walk around with Gritty on your chest.

I'm seeing Pavement next week, but I'm also visiting an uncle at the end of the trip so I need to pack at least one respectable outfit. I'm wearing my Gritty t-shirt to the Philly show to let Philadelphians know I respect their culture but I don't think I can wear that to a tablecloth join in DC.

I'm reading Christie's "Murder on the Orient Express" for the first time and had to give a lol at this. (Poirot is talking about a crime in America.)

My babysitter took me to see Purple Rain when I was 9 or so. Dad was not happy.

A friend of mine found these three kittens behind a Bay Area gas station. They are tame, vaccinated, and incredibly affectionate. Unfortunately, she's unable to keep them and I'm trying to find them a home. They are at risk of going to a shelter. Bay Area people, are you open to adopting?

I adore this book. And it holds up after several re-reads.
