Heads up #yegbike folks, if you're using the 119 Ave. bike lanes, there's a huge downed branch by 94 St. in the lane! That pic was as of 3am last night (July 28th). Lots of small broken branches all over the place too, careful riding out there!

Did a 50km bike ride deep into Northern Edmonton. Crossed the Henday and back, watched the storms rolling across the sky, got rained on in the hydro corridor, saw the sun rising the whole time and did my longest ride ever (so far)! A good ride overall I'd say 😍 #yeg #yegbike

Welp, had to get a new rear bike tire as I didn't keep a close enough eye on my back brake pads. They got slightly too high and shredded the side of my Bontrager Offroad 🫣 Got me a Schwalbe Green Marathon so that should last me hopefully thousands of kilometres. Lesson learned! #bikesky #yegbike

Did a long ride south trying out the MUP on 34 Ave. and holy shit is that area in red depressing. It's literally a car sewer due to the insane amount of car dealerships. Makes the area a shithole and then the intersection at 111 St. on that MUP is an absolute disaster to navigate through. #yegbike

There's goofy gates blocking the multi-use path on the north side of the street so you have to awkwardly ride onto the train tracks if you forget to hit the beg button to switch the lights. I rode it at night and it was bad, can only imagine what it's like during the day. Strava data from my ride down south into Edmonton. It was a 32.79km long ride with an average speed of 17.8km/h and a moving time of 1:50:39.

Did a long exploration through the north of Edmonton at 1am and it is so beyond carbrained up there it actually shook me to my core. Ironically enough, there is so much potential to make it even more bikeable with just a bit of effort and getting rid of all the slip lane intersections! #yegbike

Did a bit more exploring further into the south of Edmonton and oh boy does the bike infrastructure start to fall apart down there. Thankfully it was 4am on a Sunday morning else I'd probably be squished to a pulp by a car with all the highway off ramps 😵 #yeg #yegbike

Decided to do a 23k ride around exploring some of the northern side (up to the Yellowhead) and back around to my own neighbourhood. Definitely a bit chilly at -2 but still a beautiful ride as the sun rose over the city! #yegbike

It's interesting seeing all the different ways cyclists treat the detour around the Wellington Bridge replacement. Some do the city signed detour, I do Connaught Drive, others completely different streets and avenues. Is just fascinating how we all treat it so differently. #yeg #yegbike
