It's important to know what you're trying to make as soon as you can. In my experience, if you're even working with one other person on a game, being able to communicate your ideas and goals will save so much time for yourself and everyone else involved, focusing your efforts in useful directions.

Oh, you've made a video game? And you want people to play it? Well, let's talk about how to do that better. How, exactly, can you make sure people care about your game and want to tell other people about it? Check it out here: docseuss.medium.com/its-not-enou...

End of Starchild [2026] is a mysterious FPS in the form of a total conversion mod for Doom II, and it really is something special, but its obscure nature means talking about it beyond the surface level gives away its mystique. Look at these gorgeous visuals (the music is amazing too).

A look into Elph's room, which has customizable flooring, carpet, posters and more, purchased using money earned in the levels. The entry to level 2: starseeker. Below the stars, a halo of aurora borealis casts a shimmery glow over fortified islands in a sea of acid. A broken up bridge, easily hopped across, is all that separates the player from reaching the first island.

Nine Sols [2024] is an incredible action platformer that shows a ton of restraint, keeping you focused on the next task at hand until you have the abilities needed to really scour the map more thoroughly. And though Yi is on a reckless quest for revenge, you'll want to be thorough by the end.

hey everybody. i made a new game. its called 10SJR. its a pico8 version of a tennis hell game. not a full sequel, an experimental test bed for 10S3 mechanics. just one level rn, but a new one each week until i get bored. playable in browser or download <3 owch.itch.io/10sjr

I'm generally not a fan of CRT filters but I decided to try it with FFVII and I think it's pretty good! A typical side effect of playing old games at high resolutions, if they have prerendered backgrounds, is that the models don't blend in very well. The fuzziness from a filter like this helps!

Goofy screenshot from Final Fantasy VII where Cloud is looking up at the cartoon gloved hand above his head. The image has a slightly grainy filter and perspective warp to simulate the image being seen on a CRT.

The Kickstarter for RUSH (Rival Ultimate Steel Hand), my indie 3D fighter, is LIVE! The plan: develop RUSH for a year, for a proper release. Details on Kickstarter, link below 🧵. Lots of info, including art and music. Check it out, and please consider supporting #GoodAssRUSH 🙏

Another Crab's Treasure [2024] is a unique blend of a 3D platformer and soulslike, and that blend felt so confusing to me for the first few hours. "Why in the world is this a soulslike?" I asked myself several times.

Remember these guys from Mario 64? The Super Mario Wiki states that Chuckya is supposed to be a Bob-omb variant. Their Japanese name Horuhei is referencing hōru, "to throw" and Bomuhei, "Bob-omb" but we lost that connection in localization. But then it hit me: they could have called 'em Lob-ombs!

Chuckya from Mario 64. A giant creature mainly made out of prerendered orbs who would hover over to Mario and chuck him in a random direction.

Hit me with your gaming mouse recommendations! I've been burned a couple times in the past with gaming mice that have cheap click pads that run out in like a year or two tops

Great show full of games that you have almost certainly never heard of. If I can offer my own unearthed treasure, it would be 10SF by owch. Sitting at 75 Very Positive reviews on Steam, it's tennis boss rush meets bullet hell. Slick, challenging arcade fun. store.steampowered.com/app/3257310/...

Today, kick off SGF with some old games, in the 2nd edition of the Unearthed Treasure Room, a showcase of recent overlooked games we want you to play!! Starting shortly here: youtu.be/mxIrzO7R0EU?...

Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies [2001] is the first entry in the series to be on PS2, yet I was kind of surprised at how limited in scope it is despite the stronger hardware. It is paradoxically a game with bigger battlefields and a game where most missions lock you down with strict time limits.

I will spend an hour opening as many Kickstarter project tabs as I can, then when the hour is done, fully fund them past all their stretch goals. Doesn't matter whether it's an indie love letter to Chrono Trigger or a Smart Toaster that only accepts proprietary bread slices, it's all getting funded

THE WIZARD IS BACK! You have been cursed with a lot of money! You are going to become not just permanently brain damaged, but SUPER evil, incapable of doing good, if you use the money for anything that isn't ridiculous. To break the curse, you must spend it on something ridiculous. What say you?

Viewfinder [2023] is entirely built around its main showstopper of a feature: placing photographs in the world, overwriting what was once there, and allowing you to step into the photographs you just placed. The effect is so impressively seamless and intuitive, iterated upon in several ways.

Advance Wars [2001] is pretty fun turn-based tactics with more depth than appears at first glance, but it's held back by clumsy enemy AI. Generally for the game to challenge you, they need to resort to either outgunning you or presenting a map with one serious choke point to tip the scales.
