The person who made one of the most important unacknowledged contributions to general relativity was Emmy Noether. Einsten was worried GR did not conserve energy. Noether showed it was true but not fatal. In doing so, she derived Noether’s theorem, the guiding light of fundamental physics.

Many were involved in developing the mathematics such as Riemann, Ricci etc but the key physical intution was Einstein’s. Hilbert got interested after Einstein lectured on his progress at Gõttingen in June 1915

There are two effects. Time slows in strong gravity and at high speed. In space - say, orbiting on the International Space Station - an astronaut is travelling at 18,000 mph and in weaker gravity than on the Earth’s surface. Their clock will tick at 99.986% the rate of a clock on the ground.

Let me disagree. General relativity was not really made solely by Einstein: Hilbert, Minkowski, Ricci, and some others later others were very important to shape it as we know today: Penrose, Hawking,...which made the theory not just beautiful but also useful
