Football, trains and anything that makes me laugh. Won’t be posting much, though, as I’ve normally got to do something else.

As a young journalist it was drilled into me to represent all sides in a story, however unpalatable or complex. You have to understand all points of view, even if you don't agree. It's getting harder to find media outlets that adhere to this principle.

Tickets for the Glastonbury of the railways have gone on sale. And, much like the music festival, they’re selling like hot cakes! The Greatest Gathering at Alstom Derby on 1,2,3 August -loads of trains of all types plus food, drink & entertainment! Great family day out.

Really sad to hear Jon Brady has left Northampton Town. A rarity in Cobblers history -a manager who actually got the club. The fact that HE resigned shows how high his standards are. Remember, before he was even manager he ran a marathon around Northants during COVID to raise money for charity.

This year marked the first time in history that the Cornish language was mentioned in UK law. The Media Act 2024 specified Cornish as one of the regional or minority languages that public service broadcasters are obliged to provide “a sufficient quantity” of content in.

On my way back from a lovely few days in Copenhagen & Malmö, and the train geek in me is still fascinated by the front cars of Danish & Swedish trains. Why are they not aerodynamically pointy-nosed like other railways? Do they work better in snow designed like this? Genuinely interested why.

Great to speak to the students of UCFB Wembley and Manchester recently about live match reporting and the things you need to think about. Thanks to Chris Cooper for sorting.

Went on a train which hangs on a monorail over a river! Even more interesting when it sways after a couple of beers. 🤪😂 Seriously, though, the Wuppertal Schwebebahn is just an amazing experience and a stroke of public transport genius way ahead of its time. Everyone should give it a go! 🇩🇪

Currently playing a game with myself at St Pancras departures to listen to a song by an artist/group from each of these cities. Done Bombfunk MCs and The Smurfs for Amsterdam and now I’ve run out of ideas.
