ADHD Biology teacher. Nerdfighter. Trying to relearn how to make art after a twenty-year break. I read and listen to a lot of audio books. Sometimes I post about them. No DM’s without a really good reason. She/her
New Grandson might possibly be born on Esther Day?!!!!! (I’m not panicking. I’m normal.)
Feeling grumpy and sad for ridiculous and self involved reasons. But anyway, happy nationalism weekend America.
I have a lot of weird things going on this summer but also, this one had me stumped so I was dragging my feet. I was only vaguely aware of who Styles is. When the video for Dance No More came out, I watched it over and over. I’ll put the original P4A drawing in the comments.
It is false to suggest—as some recently have—that @gilead.com is “for everyone, everywhere”. Mexico, Peru, Argentina, and Brazil are all somewhere. Everyone who lives there is someone. So why is #lenacapavir (LEN) not for them? Gilead needs to make LEN accessible. #2Shots$40Everywhere
As is common at this time of year, the executive is not functioning. I will return with a reply to this only after the back-yard lawn is mowed and the gym has been visited.
A cautionary tale: clean your water bottle. My gym water bottle had algae in the mouthpiece. Gross.
Hank advocating for connections to be harder when I’m so terrible at it…
Grammy is grumpy but we did go say hi to the cows down the road and the stupid little walk improved both our outlooks.
Hanging out with an almost two-year-old sure makes you feel smart. We learned about robins and roosters and clover flowers on our morning walk.
Spending the week with Grandbaby. She’s old enough now that we don’t share pictures. She’s sure loud and energetic.
Drawing number two in my redraw all the P4A art project. I took a different take on the idea of being more serious. I’ll put the original in a reply.
Just finished listening to Redshirt by John Scalzi. It’s a delightfully silly book and, like most of Scalzi’s books was read by Wil Wheaton. I still maintain that Scalzi is my favorite romance author. Exactly the book I needed right now.
Last day with students. That marks the end of my eleventh year teaching (I came to teaching after trying many other things). Not an amazing year but a solid one. First year with mostly freshmen.
When I decided to redraw my P4A art, I didn’t take into account how deeply unserious my P4A art was. Spent a ridiculous amount of time on this and it’s not really the same thing but I’m ready to move on.
Very rude of my car’s transmission to start acting up during teacher appreciation week.
You can just make award certificates and give them to people. You don’t need permission from anyone.
Hey I finished my taxes two days early this year so, basically I have my life together now. If there are ducks, they are single file.
This summer I want to finish the portrait class I started but I also think that instead of a regular draw every day challenge I want to do a ‘serious’ redraw of all my P4A art.
April is usually my favorite but… gestures broadly
Overheard in AP Bio today: “Maybe the real null hypothesis is the friends we made along the way”.
The verdict is probably a benign cyst. We’ll do another ultrasound in six months
Diagnostic mammogram scheduled for Wednesday. My boobs are apparently dense which turns out is a bad thing. It’s Schrödinger’s breast cancer till then. Maybe it’s there and maybe it’s not. My boobs are the one part I don’t hate, so if course they might be a problem.
I’m listening to Space Opera by Catherynne M. Valente. It’s sort of like Matt Dinniman and Douglas Adams all wrapped together and given some interesting music.
Phone conversation I just had. Them: we need to schedule a diagnostic mammogram. Me: Didn’t we just do this? Them: You mean the screening mammogram. Me: Oh. (We know nothing at this point. Time for panic later.)
Spending spring break with Grandbaby and she sure has a lot of energy
