looking back, AOL had it right. 30 hours of internet per month was the right amount.

@bsky.app - I’m sure this has been asked … but -please- add a feature to let us import starter pack into lists.
DOGE is looking less like a cost-cutting effort and more about digging a hole by breaking our government and xAI will be the ladder to get us out. He is creating the problem and wants to sell us the solution. Mark my words: Elon is positioning to have his AI technology running our government.
If you told me in 1994 that 30 years later the world’s richest man would be a bully SysOp of a worldwide BBS and would use that position to curry favor with a US President…I’d be like wtf man are you nuts
Their artifact system and projects are more useful for real work. The model itself is good, but its utility is due to the tooling. www.nytimes.com/2024/12/13/t...
Why Anthropic’s Claude Is a Hit with Tech Insiders
A.I. insiders are falling for Claude, a chatbot from Anthropic. Is it a passing fad, or a preview of artificial relationships to come?

Wonder if news editors are going to realize people knew about an actual coup an hour-plus earlier on bluesky than twitter. Hearing a lot of that rumbling from old friends still in the legacy content mines today.
Government of the main characters, by the main characters, and for the main characters.
WaPo Edito: Be thankful for the applications of AI in medicine. More accurate detection of cancers (breast, prostate, skin, brain), faster diagnosis of strokes, sepsis, heart attacks, faster MRIs, full-body in 40 minutes. Much more to come over the next years. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...
I completely agree with Jeremy. BlueSky resembles the old Usenet and IRC days when everything was relayed publicly. There are no corporate moats of an algorithm manipulating users to benefit ad monetization with toxic rage-fueled content.
FYI, here's the entire code to create a dataset of every single bsky message in real time: ``` from atproto import * def f(m): print(m.header, parse_subscribe_repos_message()) FirehoseSubscribeReposClient().start(f) ```
The qwen team is doing a fantastic job! I’m excited to see competitive open-weight models. I’m curious why we haven’t seen a 72b coding model yet and whether their reasoning model will exceed the 32b version. Either way, I’m thrilled to have good 32b models that can run on my laptop.

Social media is in desperate need of innovation. Meta is only letting you have a slice of control over what you see because Bluesky is here building for you.
We wrote on Saturday about how Meta is going all-out to meet the threat of Bluesky: wapo.st/3OrYxBj Today they took another step— finally allowing users to set their default feeds to a chronological “following” feed.
The AT Protocol unlocks exciting possibilities: - Building custom feeds using ML - Creating dashboards for data exploration - Developing custom models for Bluesky To gather @bsky.app resources on @huggingface.bsky.social. I've established a community org 🤗 huggingface.co/bluesky-comm...

Happy Monday 🦋 Here is an AI/LLM/Agentic feed for anyone interested. Let me know if I’m missing anyone. bsky.app/profile/did:...
The hacker ecosystem here is truly remarkable. I'm not convinced that closed networks and ecosystems can match the chaotic, decentralized innovation that will only accelerate with the AT protocol.

People make prompting too hard. Most people would benefit from just using good enough prompting techniques. I outline some basic rules, including why “treat AI like an intern” is no longer the advice I would give new AI users. www.oneusefulthing.org/p/getting-st...

It's Sunday morning so taking a minute for a nerdy thread (on math, tokenizers and LLMs) of the work of our intern Garreth By adding a few lines of code to the base Llama 3 tokenizer, he got a free boost in arithmetic performance 😮 [thread]

You really don't look at code the sane way after you spent some time in a more business-focused role. So much "craftsmanship" stuff suddenly is no longer important.

This Bluesky follow finder is super neat. It finds folks you don’t follow who follow folks you follow. So it helps fill in your network. It’s the type of cool stuff enabled by an open ecosystem. bsky-follow-finder.theo.io

I created a starter pack for human-AI collaboration in case that this would be helpful for some newcomers, which overlaps with several existing starter packs. Let me know if you would like to be added. go.bsky.app/MRV1Wa1

Q: What happens when you overpay for a social media platform, drive away most of your advertisers, alienate half its users, making it worth less than a third of what you paid for it within a year? A: You get put in charge of government efficiency.
Today we are launching the Forge Reasoning API Beta, an advancement in inference time scaling that can be applied to any model. nousresearch.com/introducing-... The Forge Reasoning engine is capable of dramatically improving Hermes 70B to reach parity in some categories with OpenAI's o1 (full).
