Green Party Councillor, History teacher, views my own. He/him.

Last week Zack demanded that the UK government hold an emergency COBR meeting in response to the climate emergency. The Prime Minister Andy Burnham has finally listened to this call; the PM must set out his plans for how will keep this country safe today and how he will prepare for threats to come.

A quote graphic from Zack Polanski leader of the Green Party saying: "When the country is burning and people are dying, the PM had to call this meeting. But this is only a first step. What we urgently need is concrete action. That must include taxing fossil fuel giants to pay for firefighting helicopters, a cool space in every community, and a maximum working temperature. The prime minister must also commit to no new oil and gas extraction in the North Sea. We cannot negotiate with the science."

Good. Now we need action. Tax fossil fuel giants to pay for firefighting helicopters. A cool space in every community. A maximum working temperature. And no new oil and gas extraction in the North Sea. We cannot negotiate with the science. www.bbc.co.uk/weather/arti...

UK weather: Burnham to chair Cobra meeting on extreme heat as temperatures surge again

The Government will meet to discuss this summer's record-breaking heat as the tally for days above 30C in the UK is broken.

The Manchester mayoral result was as I predicted for the Greens, sadly. It’s not because of Zack or lack of Green issues , it’s due to poor strategy. You do not refuse to campaign in a key by-election, nod voters into supporting another party and then expect to be ‘rewarded’ in the same region.

🤯 More drilling in the North Sea? 🥵 On his first day in No. 10 the new PM is going to alienate everybody who cares about our climate 😰 What's next, the devastation of our countryside? 😭 I had hope but he's lost me on day -2

I stand by my view that all political parties refusing to stand in Clacton bar Reform is treating the voters with contempt. Making it all into a summer joke is doing so also. However once the other parties stood down it created an inevitable momentum that the Greens would.
