The ‘let’s change the world by standing down’ and ‘we do politics differently by setting out to deliberately fail’ approach has to go from Green Party strategy. Parties with mass memberships think big.

The Manchester mayoral result was as I predicted for the Greens, sadly. It’s not because of Zack or lack of Green issues , it’s due to poor strategy. You do not refuse to campaign in a key by-election, nod voters into supporting another party and then expect to be ‘rewarded’ in the same region.

I stand by my view that all political parties refusing to stand in Clacton bar Reform is treating the voters with contempt. Making it all into a summer joke is doing so also. However once the other parties stood down it created an inevitable momentum that the Greens would.
