SanDisk reported Q4 revenue of $8.97 billion. A year ago, revenue was $1.9 billion. A year ago, SanDisk lost $23 million for the fourth quarter. Today, it reported Q4 profits of $6.9 billion. The stock fell. OTOH, the stock price is up 3,120 percent over the past year.

I can't remember who said it first, but someone summed up AI marketing as: "This is so powerful it will destroy the world. Imagine what it could do for your business!"

AI is a helluva drug "Revenue increased 50% year-over-year to a record $11.5 billion, driven by continued strength in our Data Center business, which represented 58% of company revenue in the quarter," said Jean Hu, AMD executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer."

In the the latest season of Dark Winds (Netflix), two things nag at me: first, Linda Hamilton shows up for a two-minute cameo and knocks it out of the park; and the characters visit a bar with a large sign on the back door that says "Discreet Rear Entrance." This is a drama.

Scott Wiener is so fucking creepy!!! making an AI chatbot of your woman opponent so she says all the things your campaign wants her to say is deeply misogynistic!!! holy shit!!!

I feel like renaming it to "GNU Image Manipulator" would solve a few problems but also introduce a fun one in the form of "do you pronounce it as 'jim'"

I wonder if the people living next to datacenters have tried phase cancellation? Zeroing out a known frequency by projecting the opposite signal. (This is not a defense of unwanted datacenters.)

My review of the Framework Laptop 13 Pro DIY Edition is a lot longer than most, because of the complexity of the ordering process and the relative simplicity of actually assembling it. It's a great laptop, but with shipping delays and doubled memory prices...? www.pcworld.com/article/3199...

Framework's DIY laptop is easy to build. Buying one is another story

The Framework Laptop 13 Pro DIY Edition boasts fantastic battery life, a solid keyboard, and a wonderful display, but the performance of this modular, DIY laptop leaves me wanting more. Fluctuating pr...

AMD has its Advancing AI conference today, and what was once a PC processor company is now almost wholly enterprise, at least where this conference is concerned. OTOH, AI silicon is a moneymaker. 💰💰💰💲💲💲

Although my tenure at PCMag sort of overlapped with John Dvorak, I didn't really know him. Still, he took a cynical, skeptical, critical view of tech that was ahead of his time and necessary. RIP.
