You can tell the powerball is getting big by looking at the fraction of people who dont hide their Venmo activity who have posts that have something about lottery in them. I say this after looking at Venmo to see if I got paid for the powerball tickets I just bought.
36 minutes after posting this (which was already 5-10 minutes into the process), I have now completed the submission!

At the Greek for the Death Cab show and the opening band is Nation of Language. Apparently they appear to be a bunch of people less than 30 who are basically playing 80’s New Wave style music. Good, but it’s from before they were born!
Did my first run of the training plan over half of a half-marathon, and it is hot. I refuse to call that a quarter marathon because that would be ridiculous.

Since I’m building up to a half marathon this fall for the chance of trying to get a marathon before I turn 50 next summer, I’m going to motivate myself by quoting this to gather those thoughts.
I’m amused that the Bluesky discourse today seems to be about an unfavorable review of Nolan’s Odyssey by a renowned Odyssey translator. That’s very on brand. Full disclosure: I briefly skimmed the review and I still really liked the movie. But I’m not sure why people are worked up?
Tragedy! Apparently my set did not include the sticker sheets! Now I’ve got the request in with LEGO, but it’s probably going to be a 2-3 week pause.

I just spent half an hour on the phone with FedEx walking through how to fill out a customs form asserting that the sunglasses mailed to me by my CNES colleague were really mine that I left in a car and that I don’t need to submit manufacturer’s ids and drop test certification.
The Apollo LRV build is underway. I don’t even know what this mechanism does, but it clicks back and forth and makes me happy.

Birthday cocktails sounded good. But going to work at 7 am after birthday cocktails doesn’t work as well in my older body as it did in my younger body. But The Raymond does make good cocktails and they are conveniently within walking distance.

I’m doing bad at remembering to do this. Today I was thinking about how I was running through the remnants of the original Busch Gardens before it was an amusement park in the Valley and now in Tampa. Originally it was just fancy gardens of the Busch family open to the public.

Two thoughts on today’s run: 1) had to cut short my portion of the run in the bottom of the arroyo thanks to a coyote laying across the path. Maybe not the best at sunset. 2) also running after a giant meal and cocktail at Amigos was a bad idea unless I really wanted terrible heartburn.

I learned recently that the tide does not actually come in or go out; the ocean is held like an oval of water, bulging on two sides, one pulled out by the moon and one falling away, opposite the moon, furthest from its qualities: an oval made of attraction and its absence.
