Körpersignale spielen bereits im Säuglingsalter eine Rolle in der Entwicklung 👶 Bislang ist kaum erforscht, ob & wie Babys ihre eigenen Körpersignale wahrnehmen können. Eine Studie der Wiener Kinderstudien der Uni Wien zeigt erstmals, dass bereits 3 Monate alte Babys ihren Herzschlag wahrnehmen. 💓 ⤵️

Children are disgusting, it's a known fact. But why?! Adults show proto-nausea: a gastric response to grossness. We found this to be absent in 5-13 year-olds! The data shows that children initially looked more at disgusting stimuli, but from about 1 second into a trial they showed a bias towards neutral stimuli. This suggests they preferred to avoid looking at disgusting stimuli in exactly the same pattern that adults show.Graph showing electrogastrography results, with frequency on the x-acis (1-10 cycles per minute) and relative power (max-scaled within individuals) on the y-axis. These results suggest there was no proto-nausea (i.e. no gastric disgust signature) in the tested children (N=44).

The Manybabies4 paper is out! Infants' Social Evaluation of Helpers and Hinderers: A Large-Scale, Multi-Lab, Coordinated Replication Study onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1... 1000 babies tested in 37 labs; "Overall, 49.34% of infants preferred Helpers over Hinderers in the social condition"

If you have found value in the large-scale studies we carried out through global collaborations in recent years, we will soon share something on a whole new level. A true testament of dedication to scientific rigor from everyone involved - authors, editor, peer reviewers - for the good of society.
