My annual NNO story: On National Night Out in 2014, my coworker and I made an interactive map of all the block parties in St. Cloud, MN. The St. Cloud POLICE DEPARTMENT called the newspaper and insisted it be taken down - they didn't want the 'wrong' people showing up at public block parties.

A NYT writer blocked me after I said I did in fact strain my eye from rolling it, noting it was the most painful part of my recovery from brain surgery. It was in response to a comment they made in jest about eye-rolling during these times. It's true! I was telling a story and rolled my eyes!
