The Greens must continue to be bold and clear in setting out our vision for the country. At @greenparty.org.uk conference w/ Verdant, I'll be chairing a debate on how we set out this vision

Thank you! It was great to come together as a community today. Discussing the future of Waltham Forest and St James. Thank you to my fellow St James Councillors Cllr David Berrie and Cllr Anna-Rose Kerr for organising.
“Inequality has got worse and worse and worse. Wealth is hoarded in the tiny top percentage, and most people are really, really struggling.” Deputy Leader Rachel Millward on why the UK needs a wealth tax, on Cathy Newman.
We have just had one of the hottest summers on record. Tackling the climate crisis should be the number one priority of the UK government.
Data centres consume electricity and water, which should be going to communities, not big tech. We should be holding the UK gov accountable for the proliferation of data centres across the country. We need to put communities first. Let's say no to data centres.
As the UN Secretary General says, every new fossil fuel project approved today makes tomorrow’s heatwaves more dangerous & our world less secure. I hope Andy Burnham is listening. Caving in to the fossil fuel lobby as the planet burns would be unforgivable

Verdant's co-director Deborah Doane spent £14,000 adapting her terrace house to be greener. Her energy bills fell by £70 a month. Burnham's VAT cut is worth £45 a year. Adaptation isn't the expensive option, ignoring it is. Read her article here: verdantthinking.org/blogs/anadapta…
Last Thursday at Waltham Forest Full Council, the Green Group put forward a motion forwarded by Cllr Em Dean and seconded by Cllr Anna Rose Kerr to protect Trans, non-binary and intersex residents. The motion passed! Proud to support this motion.
Burnham is promising the biggest rebalancing of power this country has seen while sticking to the fiscal rules that make it impossible. Both can't be kept. 🧵
Burnham promised the biggest rebalancing of power in our history, and to keep Reeves's fiscal rules. Both can't hold. I've written for Verdant on which should give, and what comes next: www.verdantthinking.org/publications...

Burnham has promised the biggest rebalancing of power Britain has ever seen. He's also promised the Treasury he won't spend a penny more than Starmer did. Both can't be true.

6.1 million people across the UK are living in fuel poverty. Meanwhile BP are doubling their profits during the energy crisis. Pleased to see the Mayor agree with my call to keep the energy cap in place. We have to lower people's bills.
Wonderful to visit Dogs Trust at their Snetterton Rehoming Centre. Great to see the amazing work being done to care for dogs like the lovely Maude and find them a loving home! #DogsTrust #ADogIsForLife

The government's Water White Paper doesn't tackle the root cause of the water crisis- privatisation. As bills soar, shareholders pocket outrageous payouts for crumbling infrastructure, outages and sewage pollution. Greens want water back where it belongs- in public hands.
Carney's address to Davos is powerful in its honesty. Invoking Havel, he exposes the "rules-based order" as a performance that has reached its end. We face a rupture, not a transition. Why is this clarity absent from our PM? globalnews.ca/news/1162087...

London is the greatest city in the world. However city hall could do more to help reduce economic inequality in our city. @zackpolanski.bsky.social is right to draw attention to this issue.
