Here’s some unsolicited advice to the government on what to do to help boost India’s sovereign model story. 1. Mandate domestic models for all non-critical functions

It's so inspiring to see Gen-Z take a stand for their future in India, and stand united across different parts of the country. After all, with their entire lives ahead of them, they're the ones with most to lose.

Want to teach your undergrad Honors students or early grad students about peer review, but not sure how? 🤔 We'll do it for free! We're offering free peer review workshops for departments, ideal for advanced undergrad/early grad seminars in Psych, Neuro, and related fields. See below for details!

Are your students entering research culture without ever learning how peer review actually works? We'd love to help. We're offering free "Peer Review 101" virtual workshops for undergrad/grad seminars, tailored to Psych, Neuro, and related fields. Visit our website to learn more tinyurl.com/2ra56w72

Why, according to Terry Tao, the recent disproof of the Jacobian conjecture in N > 2 dimensions was not mere brute force and required what many mathematicians would characterize as "creative insight" had a human come up with it!

So excited to see you all tomorrow at #CogSci2026! I will be presenting at 11:07 in the Ipanema room. Thanks to the @cogscisociety.bsky.social team for organizing this wonderful conference and for supporting us with the Diversity Award. Without it, I wouldn’t have been able to be here in person.

Excited to share that our paper has been accepted for a talk at #CogSci2026: Path Integration and Object-Location Binding Emerge in an Action-Conditioned Predictive Sequence Network Linda Ariel Ventura, Victoria Bosch, Tim C. Kietzmann, and Sushrut Thorat. Preprint: arxiv.org/abs/2602.03490. ⛓️

@ariel-ventura.bsky.social will give a talk summarizing this work at the @cogscisociety.bsky.social meeting's "Oral Talk 3: AI" session tomorrow, 23 July at Ipanema; 10:45. Go check it out to experience process-interpretability in a simple, flexible, world model! 😇 #CogSci2026 #cogsci

I WISH this were true. We increasingly demand rapid progress, steady output and cookie cutter research plans. Students now expect this. Countries with long PhD programs can protect exploration and intellectual growth. Not the UK. And from what I can tell, other countries are moving in our direction.

The PhD is the best point in time to try very dangerous ideas or to try things that don't work. – @odedrechavi.bsky.social, on the Night Science Podcast

🚨 World models, especially JEPAs, are in the spotlight. But how do predictive systems store and use what they’ve seen? In a minimal visual exploration task, we find emergent path integration and object-location binding supporting scene modelling and next-glimpse prediction! For more insights ⬇️

"I used an LLM to help me write, but it was just to polish the style and grammar" is something you've probably come across, or done yourself. Many conferences and journals and teachers are ok with this. But does it...? Just focus on the style and grammar...?
