It’s also about the long term benefits of certain investments. Will this potentially improve the lives and health of certain communities, which could have downstream benefits for the lives and health of all the city’s residents? If yes, then I can see it as a selfish good too

That's what taxes are, man. That's the definition of taxes. "You are subsidizing things you might never use" man shut the fuck up. My taxes currently subsidize like oil company exec private jets, you think I'm upset at low-income people eating inexpensive bananas?

My kids are old now (12 and 16) but DC absolutely ate Marvel's lunch when it came to books, movies, toys and cartoons for kids. As a Marvel zombie it was really annoying. Like the MCU was at its peak, but nothing Marvel had could touch stuff like DC Super Hero Girls.

I know everyone is focused on Blade because of the celebrity attached, but I think Disney will find that fumbling Moon Girl will turn out to be an equally careless move that leaves money on the table in the long run.

This story is so rough to read because daycare had SO many benefits for me and my family (parents AND child), and profit-maximizing businesses like this make the whole childcare industry look bad. (I guess the answer is more public money to hire/train/pay/retain workers?)

A string of safety violations, including alleged abuse at Columbus Circle, has flattened Bright Horizons reputation. Experts say that the chain’s business model may be the root of the dysfunction. It’s also the reason some families feel stuck there.

On vacation and had to pivot from a swimming day to driving 40 mins away to an indoor mall because the smoke is so bad it was making my daughter dizzy. I wish I could do more for her/everybody, or that I was passing on a better world to her than this 😢

Marie Claire actually left a prompt from an AI in one of their recent articles. While there’s still some great journalists and publications left, this is utterly shocking. No wonder I’m trying to pivot.
