It is becoming a singular issue for a lot of them. MAGA are still MAGA but an unequivocal stand against data centers — not small business tax credits — is a fantastic way to reach these people.

So when local hero JD Vance promised to put in a data center, they finally had something to cheer about. But then everybody's electricity bills tripled.
In the same week that he became the world's first trillionaire, he spent hours on X whipping up a racist mob in Belfast, a week after doing the same in Southampton. In effect, he's sending a message to lawmakers and regulators who may want to rein in his companies.

Shortly after he helped elect Donald Trump in Nov 2024, his net worth was around $350 billion. That net worth has nearly tripled in less than two years.
