Y'all. Imagine what we could have accomplished if we handed a **quarter of a billion dollars** to a different social services agency every day for 5 months. Yes - I know budgets don't work that way. But they could. They don't because we don't want them to. Policy cruelty is a choice.

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed." -Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1953

I hate this timeline #472 Spent 15 minutes researching how to throw away old lightbulbs. That's probably less time than Duke Energy spent worrying about polluting the water in my home state with coal ash (and making residents pay to clean it up). Why am I being careful when they don't have to?

Me, to man at Costco: OMG is that an Odyssey of the Mind shirt?? I LOVED OM! I miss it so much. Best experience of my childhood. Him: "it is, and I agree. We did it for years. You know it's funny, every time I wear one someone comes up to tell me how much they loved it." Well of course they do.

I GOT A MAMMOGRAM AND 2 VACCINES AND A TEETH CLEANING TODAY AND AT NO POINT DID ANYONE SO MUCH AS OFFER ME A STICKER. BEING AN ADULT IS STUPID AND I HATE IT SO MUCH. And NO the Bandaid does NOT count as a sticker. But seriously check yer tits & get yer shots people. Public health is us now.

Man the Times really is out here trying to just flat out LIE to Americans at this point. Syphilitic Grandpa tried to tell people that he was carried out of the rubble of the World Trade Center and they don't report that?? Let's play my favorite game: 💥Pretend 💥Obama 💥Did it!

Trump told 9/11 families that he was rescued from the rubble of the World Trade Center -- an obvious and shocking lie. Here's how the New York Times reports it. This is like reporting George Wallace's "segregation forever" speech as "Governor speaks at inauguration. Some remarks controversial."

Washington
President Trump awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously to a volunter firefighter who saved numerous people. He also added to a disputed account of his actions that day.

Stop giving the New York Times your money. Yes, I'm aware that - There are good journalists there - The opinion page is not the same as the news - It's important to share different opinions. That's not what this is. This is giving tacit approval to abhorrent people.

Curious to hear from savvier folks than I - I'm writing my Postcards to Swing States, and this is the message they say is "most effective": "Thanks for being a voter. Who you vote for is private, but whether you vote is public record. Please vote etc" I find this wildly off-putting. Thoughts?

They've been coming in in twos and threes; not enough for jam or a shortcake. Therefore, I stand in the kitchen and eat them. They've been marvelous. There is truly something magnificent about snacking my way through the backyard.

Three small strawberries, bright red with green tops. Two larger strawberries, bright red with green tops on a white hand.

One of the tangible things I am proudest of is helping get a public toilet in Harvard Square. It took years, MANY meetings, and significant advocacy, but it's still there. Access to basic sanitation is an indicator of a healthy society & a clear marker for how we treat people. Everybody poops.

Hard to imagine a greater dream team than Bryant Simon and Ben Talton talking about toilets and inequality—in Washington DC at politics & prose, 10/7: politics-prose.com/bryant-simon...

Folks, the ability to hold 2 conflicting ideals in your head at the same time is part of being an adult. Two things can be true at the same time, & often are. ICE should be abolished & leadership tried. They are in their entirety a despicable organization. Also true; this Milo shit is hilarious.
