Building a cleaner, healthier Massachusetts
The MCRT just got longer! Today we cut the ribbon on a 7.5 mile extension of the Mass Central Rail Trail between Sudbury & Hudson w/ the help of @masseea.bsky.social , @eversource.bsky.social , the MCRT Alliance, @massbike.bsky.social & the towns of Sudbury & Hudson! So come out for a walk or ride!
Massachusetts' natural landscapes are always on the job — keeping our air & water clean, protecting wildlife, and connecting us to the outdoors! Yesterday, we awarded more than $2.2 million through our Landscape Partnership Grant Program to conserve 1,600+ acres across the state.
The Haverhill sewer overflow closures came during one of the busiest weeks of the year for North Shore shellfish harvesters. Today, @massgovernor.bsky.social is announcing $300,000 in economic relief to help impacted harvesters and oyster growers.
Everyone should have the opportunity to participate in decisions that affect their community. MassDPU's new Intervenor Support Grant Program helps municipalities and organizations overcome financial and technical barriers to engage in energy infrastructure and other important proceedings.
Questions about water quality for swimming? Check out the @massdph.bsky.social Beach Dashboard for the latest updates. Most beaches impacted by the recent water quality incident on the Merrimack River are safe for swimming and continue to be monitored for water quality. Mass.gov/beachdata

Local priorities. Lasting impact. With help from our MVP Program, the new Shore Drive Greenway in Somerville will add shade trees, green infrastructure, and a shared-use path to help reduce urban heat and create a greener public space along the Mystic River.
MA’s regulations for new streamlined clean energy siting & permitting take effect today. Municipalities may now offer the consolidated permit application, and it will be required on 10/1. Our team is ready to support cities and towns! Info and resources are at www.mass.gov/doer/siting-permitting.
Good news: Crews have successfully installed the first temporary bypass in Haverhill. This means that untreated discharges to the Merrimack River have stopped and that typical wastewater flows are being sent to the City’s treatment plant.
Protecting public health is our top priority. My team is working around the clock with the City of Haverhill to stop the wastewater discharge into the Merrimack River, monitor water quality, and restore swimming access and shellfish areas as soon as it's safe to do so.
We hope you had a chance to enjoy the warm weather while celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community this month! Whether at a parade, on a hike, or listening to live music, spending time outdoors is a great way to connect with your community and the people you love.
If you want to build a data center in Massachusetts, you’ve got to follow our rules. @massgovernor.bsky.social is pausing data center tax incentives and proposing one of the nation’s most comprehensive frameworks to prevent high energy bills, protect our environment, and create jobs.
Want to see more clean energy built in Massachusetts? Starting July 1, the state’s permitting reforms go into effect — cutting energy project timelines to about a year and giving communities a stronger voice in the shaping local projects.
The Alewife Brook Greenway to Mystic River Greenway is a 7.1-mile urban ride through North Cambridge, Somerville, and Medford—following the banks of Alewife Brook and the Mystic River from the Red Line at Alewife to the Orange Line at Wellington. bit.ly/4ahZIi5
Sunflowers follow the light and have become a symbol of Juneteenth for their bright, resilient spirit! Like the sunflower in this artwork, Juneteenth reminds us of the power to persevere, overcome barriers, and flourish.
Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the generations of Black Americans who pushed our country to live up to its ideals. It's also a reminder that progress doesn't just happen. It happens because people speak out, organize, vote, lead, and refuse to accept injustice.
From contaminated dumping ground to community asset! In Acton, a former Superfund site was transformed into a 7 MW solar array that will generate clean energy while protecting forests, supporting wildlife movement, and restoring habitats with native vegetation and replanting.
As hurricane season begins, nature is our first line of defense against severe storms. That’s why we've invested in long-term resilience at the Sandy Neck Public Beach Facility in Barnstable through our MVP Program.
From vibrant music and food to art, innovation, and community leadership, Caribbean Americans have helped shape Massachusetts in countless ways. This Caribbean American Heritage Month, we’re celebrating the people, cultures, and traditions that continue to enrich our state!
Decades ago, a gas leak at a manufacturing site forced the evacuation of nearly a quarter of Acton’s residents. Last month, we cut the ribbon on a 7 MW solar project at the former Superfund site that will generate affordable, clean energy for the community.

HVAC technicians, electricians, plumbers are in demand. Good jobs students can jump right into after high school. I'm investing $100 million to expand career technical education that students are asking for—and the skilled workforce Massachusetts needs.
250 years ago, Massachusetts started a revolution. Ever since, we’ve been the place to solve problems and build something better. Now, we’re all in on climatetech — backed by talent, capital and a government you can count on. Great to join innovators and investors at the 3rd ClimaTech Conference.
