Newspapers need to ask more questions of Farage. People need to study his ideas and their implications more and be more wary of them. Aside from anything else, doesn't there need to actually be some sort of emergency to declare a state of emergency?

My own opinions about the odds aside, if people building a product believe that the product they are building has a greater than 10% chance of killing all humans within the next decade, they should simply not build that product because that would be a bad thing to do.
2. Then Evan Hubinger, Anthropic’s current Head of Alignment Stress-Testing, agreed with him, saying people inside the company genuinely believe AI could kill all humans.
Add in PHON to the list in this excellent thread to make it Aussie relevant.
I think we're at the point where we can incredibly comfortably say that your attitude towards Reform, Restore, MAGA, the AfD etc is how you'd have responded to fascism in the 1930s
Somewhere there's a KGB official wondering whether they need to find a bigger window soon...
Source: @osinttechnical on X The head of Rossotrudnichestvo, Igor Chaika, attempted to downplay Russia's deteriorating relationship with Armenia today, but admitted that "there are ups and downs." The admission comes as Russia's influence in the Caucasus wanes due to the war in Ukraine.
So the chap learning the masked gang that we were told was just concerned individuals had now taken it upon himself to identify and publish details to his followers of RNLI Lifeboat men. At what point will the more supportive (of the thugs) UK media take notice?
A weird approach to ban those who are not at all influential within the current Labour administration because they are aggrieved by the actions of the current administration. I imagine there are a fair few others who'll be upset not to make it to the banned list.
Israel announces it is banning these MPs in order to retaliate against the UK settlement ban. (You have to admit it is objectively quite funny)
So (if I understand this correctly), the way AI (companies) will "solve" all the major problems in maths, biology, and medicine in the next 5 years will be by stealing and building on the ideas of researchers naive enough to think their chats with AI companies would be private.

If they were not meant to be intimidating, can someone explain exactly what the purpose of the outfits was?
What a ridiculous question. Once again the BBC drives a nail into it's own coffin.
Kind of wild to slap that picture of three people next to that headline - only when you read the small print caption is it made clear that these definitely aren't the three paedophiles.
Three paedophiles have been charged with dozens of offences in the first eight months of Queensland's public child sex offender register.
Weirdly, the incest dude seems to be one of the more normal attendees at the Reform party conference
We have made a full documentary about what really happened at Reform conference. If you only watch a bit of it please make it these 39 seconds. You won't regret it.
Every new prime minister gets to celebrate their 50th day in office by restoring Liz Truss's rightful title of 'UK's shortest serving prime minister'. Congrats, Andy Burnham.
A gentile lecturing a Jew on how to be Jewish strikes me as quite antisemitic. How do we account for the strange silence of those who claim to care most about these things?
Is anyone actually remotely surprised that he turns out not to have just been a concerned patriotic citizen who likes putting up flags?
Leader of group behind flag campaign in England charged with 14 offences
Explain this to me like I'm 5 in a way that actually makes any effort of sense?
Err... There's no cash splash in this plan - they are just taking some money from what people would have had later and spending it now. Then these same people will struggle in retirement.
For once we can't blame this on boomers... There needs to be a more thought out explanation behind why it is happening.
Germany’s shift to the far right merrily continues. The state election of Saxony-Anhalt has almost given the Nazi-affiliated local AfD Party an absolut majority. Old (70+) voters had the lowest far right votes while Gen X and Millennials voted majority for the far right.

Is there any other national leader who used AI slop as much as Trump does?
There’s a website maintained by Roll Call you can find by looking up the president’s name and adding the term “social media posts.” These are posts the president made this afternoon.
🙄 “We sent it out to actors, and no Black actors wanted to play in a movie where there are no good Black people,” he said. “And it sort of died. But then AI came along, and I didn’t need Black actors.”
Paul Schrader Says He Turned To AI Because “No Black Actors Wanted To Play In A Movie Where There Are No Good Black People”
Just in case there was any doubt of which party in the UK parliament is backing balaclava wearing far right thugs intimidating people. If Reform had wanted to organise a party to their right to make them appear more moderate as an option, they couldn't have done it better than this.
Why have platforms like Threads normalised random accounts posting summaries (that may or may not be accurate) of "breaking" news, with no links or credits to sources? I get that they deprioritise links, pushing them to a second post, but now, much of the time we aren't seeing links at all.
I'm doubtful it will be implemented in a viable form. Bluesky process though that many people are happy with just seeing posts and reposts from those they choose to follow though, rather than a whole heap of posts by people you don't know and probably wouldn't bother following.
Labor plans crackdown on social media algorithms as Taylor says he’s ‘deeply sceptical’
Stories like this seem such a regular occurrence (see Bruce Springsteen's Born in the USA for instance). Why don't political groups think to find music from an artist actually aligned with their cause to play at their rallies, rather than badly interpreting meaning from artists that dislike them?
Kevin Rowland and Dexy's Midnight Runners are very unhappy that Nigel Farage used their music at the Reform party conference.
