Finished my novel. It took me ten years or more. So nice to be able to print it out and make it that little but more real.
Monthly reminder: Many people have a book in them, but it takes a special kind of freak to leave the Land of Laziness, cross the Plains of Procrastination and Insecurity Mountain, find the Blade of No One Made You Do This, and use it to cut your chest open and yank that book out.

It’s really hard to write well and with sincerity at the same time.
The idea of publishing a novel only to have AI gobble it up is so discouraging. It’s like this thing I’ve poured my soul into just gets consumed by a soulless entity to be used for profit. It makes me want to only hand out my work via pamphlet at like parks or train stations.
My niece is really into the Dragon Masters books by Tracey West so she wrote her a letter and made her a drawing and was thrilled when a month later she wrote back. The postcard was a treasured object. Then she saw that Tracey West would be coming to a local book fair

Guys... please, stay alive for the books you haven't read, the anime you haven't finished, and the stray cats you haven't petted yet. Stay alive for the smell of rain, your morning coffee, the songs that will become your new favorites, and the versions of yourself you haven't met yet

I actually wrote for the first time in months yesterday. Just a spontaneous burst of 1,200 words on the novel in progress. A scene that I started telling myself in my head when I thought, “Wait, I could just write this down.” And then there my characters were, just as alive and present as ever.
