Tonight I was remembering an incredible essay I’d first read in a Pushcart anthology 30 years ago. It was called “Stillborn” by Maribeth Fischer. So I looked her up online and sent her a note of appreciation. It felt great to do. Highly recommend.

I like those little moths in the grass that flutter up when you shuffle through the yard after dark. What are they doing? Who knows. Something. Nothing. They are white & fluttery & mindless in a way I (forever anxious) envy. What are they doing?! Little ghosts! It doesn’t matter…& of course it does.
