Given that he now pitches for the Mets, what’s the over/under on him suffering a season ending injury or something due to this?
Jefry Yan records his first big-league strikeout (and celebration) against his first hitter.

Your periodic reminder that Central Jersey does not exist and is a pretend place meant to give people who can’t choose between New York and Philadelphia an identity. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
#WPC issues MPD 948 concerning HEAVY RAINFALL...FLASH FLOODING POSSIBLE: PORTIONS OF CENTRAL/NORTHEAST MD INTO CENTRAL NEW JERSEY Link
Have not seen this very often. A flash flood warning in the Philly metro before the rain really even begins.
A few spots north of I-10 got drenched yesterday, and downpours will continue to be possible into the weekend, perhaps even increasingly likely in a few more spots. After that? The heat will rev back up next week. Matt has details!
A slight respite in Houston’s heat, to the extent you can call it that in August
In brief: Shower chances! They’re in Houston for a little bit, though most places will see little rain each day. Still, some less hot weather and additional downpours will be in the forecast …

Pretty clear this guy is talking to an audience of one. Gross.
TAPPER: Hold on -- hold on, 'cause I'm not done with the list of women who have accused you of violence. Are all three of them lying? REP. MAX MILLER: Yes. And I'm not getting out of the race because in 2016, President Donald J Trump faced the most extreme allegations in the world ...
Me? Opinionated? Never. The funny part is that if you know me in person you know I’m usually very middle of the road (albeit with convictions). But when I write, it all tends to come out.
I rather like it when @mattlanza.bsky.social gets on the soapbox. "As a sidebar, one thing I want to make sure the general public understands about this [El Niño] and the media ecosystem and content creation system today..."
This is the sign I'll be tapping with increasing frequency as we head into autumn. Well said by @mattlanza.bsky.social #ElNino
I've seen some absolutely ridiculous winter and tropical forecast nonsense the last week or so, trying to fit this El Niño into what they want it to be rather than what it is. So as is the case with me, I had somethin' to say.
We take a Monday evening check up on the Tropical Atlantic, El Niño’s influence, and how to avoid engagement bait nonsense. Below or at theeyewall.com.
So I’ve always told students to try to get their resumes down to one page and not overly dense with text. Does that rule still apply when HR is using AI to screen candidates? I genuinely am not sure what to tell students anymore because I don’t even understand it.
Gonna be a lot of people, even credible broadcast meteorologist types posting drivel about hurricane season maybe getting busy (it’s August) and potential for epic cold winter coming (it’s August). My advice to you is ignore and move along.
How bad is August really in Houston? A little post-war poetry can help! Meanwhile we’ll be blistering hot for the next couple of days before conditions cool off slightly. #houwx
How bad is August weather in Houston? ‘Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world’
In brief: In today’s post we look at how bad August really is in Houston, and fall back on a little post-war poetry for assistance. With regard to the forecast, we’ll be blistering hot …

I was able to obtain access to the poll numbers he is possibly referring to: (a bit of levity in all the crazy BTW)

Emmet Sheehan day on a national stage All of his gloves say “K ALS” Strike out ALS Such an incredible sentiment to have on an MLB mound 🥹 #EndALS
Guys the dewpoint is 72 up here and it feels disgusting outside. In Houston this would be a pleasant evening.
Ah that’s nice they really needed him
Texans agree to terms with DE Jadeveon Clowney
MLB still needs a centralized weather desk. (I know teams have services or staff mets, but they need someone making decisions from a desk in game that forces the hand of umpires. Like replay review)
Don Kelly gets ejected for arguing with the crew chief that the field is not playable with video from both broadcasts, they might have set a combined record for f-bombs including each telling the other to "get the f*** out"

They have been trying to fix the infield for the last 10 minutes and now the umpires have decided to stop the game. This is a fucking mess.
I love hearing things like this. There’s a reason we have these conversations even if they don’t bear fruit initially. More obs. #mesonetsforall
@mattlanza.bsky.social I know you’re no longer at Cheniere (or even in Houston anymore!) but we’re installing a mesonet station on the LNG property this week, steps from the Pass. Just want to thank you again for some of those very initial conversations from 2+ years ago that got us in the door.
Kids: Why are they called the evil empire? Me: It’s because they’ve won so many championships and had so many good teams. It comes from a movie you’ll see when you’re older. My 8 YO: You mean “Elf?” To be young….
The evil empire is no longer in New York City.
