I am the trick my mother played on the world. Xennial Meteorologist in Connecticut. Heart always in Houston. Forecasts: theeyewall.com & spacecityweather.com. I like books, history, sports cards, baseball, Rutgers, #BHAFC. Opinions my own.

A few spots north of I-10 got drenched yesterday, and downpours will continue to be possible into the weekend, perhaps even increasingly likely in a few more spots. After that? The heat will rev back up next week. Matt has details!

A slight respite in Houston’s heat, to the extent you can call it that in August

In brief: Shower chances! They’re in Houston for a little bit, though most places will see little rain each day. Still, some less hot weather and additional downpours will be in the forecast …

Me? Opinionated? Never. The funny part is that if you know me in person you know I’m usually very middle of the road (albeit with convictions). But when I write, it all tends to come out.

I rather like it when @mattlanza.bsky.social gets on the soapbox. "As a sidebar, one thing I want to make sure the general public understands about this [El Niño] and the media ecosystem and content creation system today..."

So I’ve always told students to try to get their resumes down to one page and not overly dense with text. Does that rule still apply when HR is using AI to screen candidates? I genuinely am not sure what to tell students anymore because I don’t even understand it.

Gonna be a lot of people, even credible broadcast meteorologist types posting drivel about hurricane season maybe getting busy (it’s August) and potential for epic cold winter coming (it’s August). My advice to you is ignore and move along.

MLB still needs a centralized weather desk. (I know teams have services or staff mets, but they need someone making decisions from a desk in game that forces the hand of umpires. Like replay review)

Don Kelly gets ejected for arguing with the crew chief that the field is not playable with video from both broadcasts, they might have set a combined record for f-bombs including each telling the other to "get the f*** out"

I love hearing things like this. There’s a reason we have these conversations even if they don’t bear fruit initially. More obs. #mesonetsforall

@mattlanza.bsky.social I know you’re no longer at Cheniere (or even in Houston anymore!) but we’re installing a mesonet station on the LNG property this week, steps from the Pass. Just want to thank you again for some of those very initial conversations from 2+ years ago that got us in the door.

Kids: Why are they called the evil empire? Me: It’s because they’ve won so many championships and had so many good teams. It comes from a movie you’ll see when you’re older. My 8 YO: You mean “Elf?” To be young….
