one major takeaway I've gotten from covering ICE here in Evanston, IL is that the paranoia runs very, very young. elementary schoolers as young as 9 have been keeping tabs on immigration activity. one of the first reports of Halloween-day activity at Asbury & Oakton came from a 6th grader. god

In my experience, courage is usually the product of love and/or solidarity. When we are deeply invested in each other, we are more likely to take risks that we wouldn't take out of mere principle, or for the sake of people we feel disconnected from. Our alienation mass produces cowardice.

Quick little fact check here: Israel has armed the Burmese military for decades, including during the Rohingya Genocide. Protesting Israel’s genocidal regime directly and materially benefits the people of Myanmar.
Just to be crystal-clear about what’s happening: this practice was explicitly prohibited a few days ago by the 9th circuit court. The Trump administration is flagrantly and knowingly violating a court order. We can only speculate about what they’re trying to trigger.
