Probably more helpful to think of them not so much as “Canadian wildfires” but rather “climate change wildfires currently consuming Canada”

The owner of a local, tiny, independent bookshop allowed her store to become a third space for me and my friends. She even let us carefully read parts of books, knowing we would spend our allowances there. She also gave me my first part-time summer job. An amazing person; sorely missed.

I ask as always: What were these mythical "third places that previous generations had available to them?" The whole idea of "third places" is just so much Camelot mythmaking.

Bonnie Blackburn was an astounding academic, whose contributions to the field are immeasurable. She was also the best editor in the business—to have your work edited by her was a privilege & a joy. Most of all she was unfailingly encouraging & supportive. She always had a kind word. #MedRen2026

A tribute to Bonnie Blackburn, whose loss is immeasurable. She was beloved everywhere—including in Poland—and helped build bridges with Polish scholars over 20 years ago. What a difference she made to so many, and how profoundly she shaped the field. 4/

First Round of 16 appearance. First hat-trick by a CANMNT player. First win in FIFA World Cup history. First multi-goal game. First tournament on home soil. First run with multiple players scoring goals. 2026 was a World Cup to remember for CANMNT 🥹🇨🇦

Hey there cats and kittens, it's just before 0700 my time and I'm on Discourse here bc it's quite a day for Catholics and medievalists on here and we need to do a bit better than yesterday. So a thread: The thema (oh ho!) I'm gonna work w/is: "one holy and Apostolic Church"

I’m on vacation, and one of the best things about my current career (speaking as an Ex-Academic) is that my breaks are truly breaks. I’m not expected to conduct research / present at a conference / finish that article / apply for that grant / prep teaching, etc. I’m expected to rest.

Reposts very appreciated on this, as I’m looking globally! #AcademicChatter

#AcademicSky I’m doing some work on Narrative CVs in grant applications. That is, a CV type where you’re asked to describe some of your experience in prose. Think UKRI’s Résumé for Research or the NWO’s Evidenced-Based CV. I’m curious: which funders have you applied to that uses this CV type?
