Maybe I am wrong but it seems like UK has flawed all-or-nothing argument about AC - “we have old buildings” that can’t be retrofitted with ducts. A simple portable AC with a hose out a door/window is more than sufficient to create a cool space to, you know, not suffer heat-related injury or death.

I love a lot about the UK but one thing that gets me on a soapbox is the lack of adequate AC when heat like this is becoming a more common issue. I’m still utterly astounded at the number of hospitals without air conditioning.
