In exactly 1 month, I'm going to release BlastEm 1.0! This will be the first "stable" release since 2019 and will mark exactly 13 years since the release of BlastEm 0.1.0. Compared to 0.6.2, this release adds support for Sega CD, 32X, Sega Pico, Yamaha Copera, Game Gear, SC-3000 and Colecovision

fixed the 32X port, only using it in subtle ways for now like increasing the background framerate on this stage and fixing a few visual whoopsies. Unless life throws another wrench at it, game is coming to both Megadrive and 32X platforms. #gamedev

also here's a stage background i'm working on, the player is going to be in the mid ground on a cart doing something or other, it works by using the 68k's user mode to render then a bunch of small funky shaped DMA writes to copy up to vram, designed so action can still run at 60fps ontop.

* MD 3D engine v8.5 * Added X scrolling of the sprite based background. Added X camera movement of the 3D plane ( broke stuff for a while due to wrapping and limited coordinate resolution ) . Video from Exodus with sprite boxing enabled to show how the sprite based BG is made up - Neo Geo style !!

Small update on the Megadrive *rally game* ? I added sprites and did some optimization so CPU is still at 70% usage with a stable 60 fps. I'm a bit disappointed by the sprite width limit per-line. I wanted a lot more dense vegetation but it's not possible with sprites. I'll try other methods.

* Sega Megadrive 3D V8 * Toni Galvez joined the project for GFX / models & level design 25% Larger Buffer 256x160. Music added - XGM1 works, XGM2 doesn't :-( Faster buffer swap, rewrote Quad Renderer. Added a 114 sprite multiplexor ( the background is all sprites ) Added Tilt effects :-)

Been working on enemies for the #Gilgamech submarine level. These harpoon chains shoot up from an ocean trench and latch onto the sub. They deal damage until you destroy them. This ties in to the previous level where you see ships destroyed by these harpoons. I love continuity stuff like this.
