"I've seen the creation of life on the PlayStation 2" - title of my upcoming video essay https://backloggd.com/u/MegaApple
Due to changing color (for better visibility), I made Mario into Simpson character
Finished : Dragon Quest II (iOS/Android remake) Second RPG I've ever beaten, first being... Dragon Quest 1.. Somehow still fun; feels like going on adventures w/ friends. Grinding for better gear is nice. Bit easy until last area. Top 10 overworld music.
I'm trembling while writing this: Kamaitachi no yoru—not the PC remake, not the iOS port, but the actual original SFC version—has been translated at last by ButThouMust, who graciously brought us an English patch for Otogirisou in the past. This is HISTORICAL.
Finished : Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright on 3DS. Game like this can never be made again - two different companies coming together to make a genre mashup that works despite all odds (troubled dev)! There's lotta flaws, but it's SO worth it for final case.
Best thing I've heard all year. Zhong Shu/Yiyang Zhuge used her amazing depth of knowledge to masterfully steer the conversation. Incredible questions asked. Don't ever care for Nolan much. No one should except interview beneath this standard. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wa4I...

Pal demo/prototype of FFX dumped today and I love the menu and thank you for playing screens I live for this shit
TIL - Indian TV Bindass did a female superhero/vigilante show called "Shakira: The End of Evil". Takes too many cues from Marvel Elektra's design, but few tweaks, this would've been great.
Yaukza (2005) PS2 is exactly how I imagine 2005 to be.
its kind of like how ps2 yakuza still has the best kamurocho despite all the tech that came after. the fixed angles, the audio loop of the crowd, the way you can talk to npcs and also 'overhear' dialogue with floating textboxes, the ps2 texture wobble creating this humid summer haze it's so good
Perhaps you would care for a 2½ hour about the arguably least-fondly-remembered — and, sadly, final — entry in the Gabriel Knight series? Well, @oneshorteye.bsky.social has got you covered... extensively! www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgNK...

Games should have UIs that take a quarter of screen real estate, the game's beautiful logo at the top.

Cutting-edge 90s PC Game, when AAA gaming meant hardware pushing. Now completely forgotten.
what's everyone else's fab examples of once massively popular and influential landmark titles in especially western games from back in the day that have just been forgotten and abandoned completely now. mine is black and white
to promote Wizardry Daphne's collab with FFXI (not XIV), 4gamer had Robert Woodhead talk to Square's Hiromichi Tanaka🇯🇵 interestingly, Tanaka's description of the initial, scrapped Seiken Densetsu differs greatly from most accounts—he says it was a Wizardry-esque game a la LucaFilm Games' The Eidolon

Rare India post - This hits me personally. While American companies were coveted in Indian engineering colleges, people still wanted to join ISRO. National pride + working on hard problems. So it and scientist being treated like crap is agonizing to watch.
