I help deep thinkers with big jobs take wise next steps. Complexity and mess, liberation from oppression and planetary futures. White, bi, poly, neurosparkly, trans. Long-term meditator and EXCELLENT baker. Views my OWN. 🍉. Manchester. megalightheart.com

As an intersex person whose assigned gender was medically enforced from infancy As an intersex person whose body does not, cannot & never will conform to neatly-labeled boxes of M or F As an intersex person public about my identity in the media The Kansas ruling is a bleak omen of horrors to come

Watching Broadchurch for the first time. Why didn't you tell me how good it was? It's got EVERYONE. Two Doctors Who, the gay one from Bridgerton, the cute but wooden one from HTGAWM, Olivia fucking COLEMAN? Only on S1E1 and cried three times already.

Just sobbed my way through the last half of Rental Family. What a beautiful meditation on connection, belonging, grief, preciousness, loss and community. Made me miss my Mum and want to find happiness in the life I'm actually living, as well touching a longing for another, warmer world.

Mari Yamamoto and Brendan Fraser, sitting at a bar, laughing.

This badly written skeet wasn't QUITE how I wanted to launch it, but yes, the brilliant @bschillace.brandyschillace.com is coming to Manchester in October to chat with lil ol moi about how the queers fought the fascists LAST time. It'll (we'll) be cute. You should come.

Why are they attacking trans people? @bschillace.brandyschillace.com knows why. Join us as we talk about her history of the the first target of fascist bookburning - the legendary Institute for Sexual Science, a haven of research and support for LGBTI+ folk www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/talking-qu...

It's really weird to demand accountability from a NYC mayoral candidate for a deadly NYC shooting rather than the current NYC mayor, an ex-cop who campaigned on a "tough on crime" platform and promptly got indicted for crimes

Wall Street Journal headline and deck: "New York Shooting Puts Mamdani on the Spot Over Policing Views: The killing of four people in a Midtown office building rattled a city where mass attacks are rare and violent crime has declined."

Dersh has been banging this drum since Trump1 & the really good news is: ostracism works, even on the shameless. Tons of people miss this--the shameless are hyper-sensitive to stigma. Civil society should use this free, non-violent tool to punish destructive people a lot more often. It works.

Dershowitz says he’s suing the Martha’s Vineyard Farmer’s Market after the pierogi guy refused to sell to him yesterday because he defends Trump. He complains that he’s also banned from the MV book fair, library, synagogue, and can’t get invited to any parties.

One thing this world is showing me is that my peace, my joy, my comfort, my determination cannot depend on external events. It has to come from 'inside', from connection to something greater. These tears are from letting go of a world that can ever be carefree. But beauty, warmth, love persist.

If you don't so as you listen to this, are you even human. Once Upon Another Time - Sara Bareilles youtube.com/watch?v=7oZ9...

Hope in this deep & powerful sense is not the same as joy that things are going well, or willingness to invest in enterprises that are obviously headed for early success, but...an ability to work for something because it is good, not because it stands a chance to succeed. - V. Havel (tr. P. Wilson)

The kind of hope I often think about (especially in situations that are particularly hopeless, like prison) I understand above all as a state of mind, not a state of the world. Either we have hope within us or we don't; it's a dimension of the soul; it's not essentially dependent on some particular observation of the world or estimate of the situation. Hope is not prognostication. It is an orientation of the spirit, an orientation of the heart; it transcends the world that is immediately experienced, and is anchored somewhere beyond its horizons.

Vaclav Havel (tr. Paul Wilson), from Disturbing the Peace: A Conversation with Karel Hvizdala, published by Vintage Books

I will never not understand how a minority of people have decided that wind farms - significantly prettier than pylons, coal power plants, nuclear power plants, and almost certainly fusion power plants - are ugly. In terms of energy generation, what else are you hoping for that is better?

On holiday, I notice that there are wind turbines on the shore of Lake Garda, which very much makes me think that residents with a view of some incredibly mid Cotswold or other can put a sock in it.
