"Pink Shells: The most important as every variation uses pink for the snout. Peach Cowries give the most vibrant pigment out of all the red/pink shell types."

"Black/Purple Shells: Only used for the Popplio variation of markings. A lot rarer to come by compared to the pink and white shells. Midnight Whelks being especially elusive and hard to come by, they are prized for the deep black they produce."

"White Shells: Plentiful on the coast and the easiest to grind down. Only shells that are at least 90% white should be used to make white makeup, having a muddy looking white is very disrespectful and conveys that you do not care about the event taking place."
