SMDET-1: a Nearby Y Dwarf Candidate arxiv.org/abs/2608.00046 Photometric distance for now of less than 7.4 parsec. Better astrometry is needed to get parallax. The team finds this object with the help of machine learning.
It looks like a photo taken from hell, or even concept art from a video game. It is part of the Crab Nebula, as seen by Hubble using the WFC3/UVIS instrument.

(1/3) Light echo produced from supernova Cassiopeia A. The blue clouds at the upper are mostly in the F335M filter and are likely nebular emission (PAHs?) and not part of the echo. #JWST NIRCam (F300M, F335M, F360M, F444W) Observation date: 2025-07-30 www.stsci.edu/jwst-program...
JWST Spectra Indicate a Large Mass of Postshock Dust Formed by SN 2010jl arxiv.org/abs/2607.27468 Nathan Smith+ They find that the type IIn supernove did produce at least 0.11 solar masses of dust. A lot of dust is being produced in this supernova.
Second image of the Luna light echo (part of Cassipeia A supernova light echo). #JWST NIRCam F444W. Amazing how much it changes in just a few days. Also: Think of light echoes as something like CT scans of the interstellar medium. program: www.stsci.edu/jwst-program...

Here are a few shots of the "[HRS2015] PN?" as it appears on SIMBAD database. Here I used only the f444w and f444w-f470n filters, automatic processing by code.

That's no moon. It's a...hang on, what should we call it? 🤔 Our VLT has revealed evidence for a moon-like object in the CD-35 2722 system. Yet this new ‘exomoon’ detection is challenging cosmic labels! 🔭 🧪 #exoplanets 1/4

Here I am following @melina-iras07572.bsky.social , tracking the light echo by time. The first 4 frames were captured a few weeks apart between 19 Aug and 16 Oct 2024. Then there is a 2.5 month leap to Dec 2024, and then all the way to Jul 2025. I don't understand light echo. Credits below 🔭.
