We publish TTRPGs like TROIKA!, Swyvers, and Stay Frosty. https://linktr.ee/Melsonia
The median backerkit whale tier is $478? Man, we need to relearn how to sell books (and make a quick mil)
Love the thing? Hate the thing? Just make sure to talk about the thing!
Just heard D&D has joined the race to make a forgettable ip tie-in ttrpg for everything ever made. Which is fine, just as long as they respect the long established and universally accepted dibs we have on the Murder She Wrote game.
Noice!
There is another new game that comes from the same aesthetic family but is actually not a transparent strip mining operation by Usaian industrialists. Funnel all outrage into buying that instead (it's good, i have a copy): hollow-press.net/products/gor...
If a hollywood actor made an official DnD setting based off New Wave sci-fi crossed with 80s/90s GW-style cultural kleptomania, I'd probably quit. Thoughts and prayers, unironicaly.
I have just bern informed by Brussels that we should charge exactly €3 more for each individual item. WEIRD.
The whitehouse has just informed us that they think our prices should be 10-15% higher. Weird.
When we hire the ttrpg designer apprentice we desperatly need it might take a while to convince them that no, this isnt a wax on wax off stealth lesson about resilience, we really just have to wax a lot of cars. In fact it's mostly just waxing cars.
The eternal question at the start of every work day is, do you work on upcoming projects or answer emails about them? You can pick only one!

Arguments against LLMs: Clearly embodied solomonic demons. Arguments for LLMs: The text file of cut&paste email replies our dogsbody (me) uses every day.
"If you successfully test an Advanced Skill that you don't have, or doesn’t exist, you may write it down on your character sheet with the GM's permission. Every session you successfully use it tick it again. At 3 ticks you may attempt to gain 1 in it as per the usual advancement rules. A failure...
The best conventions to take games to are more and more often conventions of people who like things. Ttrpg cons are cons of people who like A thing, and that thing often isn't YOUR thing. But people who are predisposed to like things take very little convincing to like your thing
They're finally here... In this corporeal sphere! @melsonian-arts-council.itch.io and @iglootree.bsky.social House of Troika! playing cards & initiative deck for Troika! The Science Fantasy Roleplaying Game. Each card beautifully illustrated by Shuyi Zhang. #troika #ttrpg #playingcards
Played my first ever tournament game of OD&D. Sometimes you get things right on the first try, yknow?
Y'know in fiction writing, it's full of dodgy how-to books by people who write boring novels but you wouldn't know it unless you read them? Same with GMing! I wanna read the prep of a GM whose game I just enjoyed.
Still dont understand awards that have public voting. If you're gonna do that you could save time and go to DriveThruRPG and sort by bestselling. Job done!

Two things I buy with the confidence that I can re-sell them for exactly as much as I paid for them if I ever wanna clear my shelves: Boardgames that aren't from Asmodee or a huge crowdfunder, and every offset small press TTRPG book.
Fun fact: Those 3rd party texts in the front of 90% of OSR books are pinched (with blessings and joy) from Troika. But did you know who we stole it from (with blessings and joy) in turn? I'm not gonna tell you the answer! But there is one. (That should be the Troika GMs motto as well)
