This is huge. The administration brings an “emergency motion“ to the Supreme Court to vacate the order that put the brakes on Trump’s executive order on mail-in voting. Court orders other side – 23 states – to respond by August 3. It’s really unfortunate that this will play out on shadow docket.

Not only does journalism matter, but constant activism matters. If it weren't for activists & victims' voices across several countries, the Tate bros would not fall under scrutiny. Voices big & small may fell these violent, misogynistic oaks, & reveal them for saplings, should justice prevail.

The epic investigation in the New Yorker by Heidi Blake seems to have lit a fire under UK criminal justice bureaucrats, who'd messed up last time they had a chance to prosecute the Tates (including some pretty horrendous victim blaming Blake recounts). Journalism matters for justice.

I have edited a lot of sexual-assault-accusation articles, and this one easily clears every veracity check: contemporaneous emails with her therapist, a boyfriend who knew, a woman she warned—all before Platner ran for office. Good on Politico for nailing it, and on Jenny Racicot for speaking up.
