On Jan. 11, Gregory Bovino watched as his Border Patrol agents dragged a man out of his car at a St. Paul Speedway, knelt on his back until he lost consciousness, and dragged his limp body into the back of a van. The man's name is Orbin Mauricio Henriquez Serrano and this is his story.
Orbin Mauricio Henriquez Serrano survived a violent arrest in St. Paul. It still haunts him. • Minnesota Reformer
The morning of Jan. 11 began for Orbin Mauricio Henriquez Serrano with an ominous warning: The gas light on his Jeep Cherokee was glowing yellow on the dashboard. He didn’t want to go to work at the r...

The party of "protect girls sports" strikes again. Why won't they let girls play?
An initiative on the ballot in Washington state in November would require all athletes seeking to play girl's sports from kindergarten to high school to undergo "genetic screening, a testosterone-levels test, or an examination of their reproductive anatomy" before they can play
New: We found 50 cops who misused Flock cameras and other license-plate readers for personal purposes, often to spy on their girlfriends or ex-wives. He "watched every single move I made. ... Who do you turn the chief of police in to?" wapo.st/3S6rTuo
She left her ex. He secretly tracked her through a network of policing cameras.
Flock’s array of license-plate cameras was built to fight crime. But at least 50 law enforcement officers were charged with or accused of misusing it and other systems.

I enjoy spellbeeswax.com but the pronunciations sometimes, omg. Strange things happening there.
"He felt sick, was coughing up blood, was in pain and had a bruise that would not heal." Just 29, and dead after having his sudden sickness neglected in an ICE concentration camp. One of 50 deaths in the camps this year. In addition to the shootings in the streets.
Prisciliano Trejo Ricano began feeling ill while detained at a Georgia detention center, where he had been for three weeks. He reported that he had not received medical attention after experiencing severe symptoms. He died on Wednesday, July 22.
"There were at least 288 ICE flights and 38 removals between Sunday, July 26, Wednesday, July 29" "At least two prolonged removal trips kept migrants onboard shackled for more than 24 hours, a painful and dangerous practice experts say amounts to torture"
NEW FROM ME: A frenzy of cruel and unusual ICE flights over the last few days suggests the Trump admin is ratcheting up its ethnic cleansing campaign. And it may be increasingly desperate to find willing collaborators. My breakdown: gillianbrockell.com/frenzy-of-cr...
"This is how Trump uses federal agencies. He pushes them away from the jobs Congress assigned them and toward the policy results he wants."
A mother gave the government her fingerprints, tax records, and DNA to get her 6-year-old daughter back. She did everything officials asked. ICE used that information to find and arrest her. A child welfare system became a deportation tool. open.substack.com/pub/adamkinz...
But note the crime number. Trump-Miller have set everyone to persecuting immigrants and the president's enemies. He pardoned thousands of allies and donors. What capacity do they have left for crime that affects the rest of America?
the corruption number here makes me want to turn into the joker and then, as the joker, turn into a significantly more unhinged joker

Most likely McConnell is just a very sick old man and they're not releasing news bc it's bad but not ...final. But trolling is my second guess. All this drama would probably tickle him mightily. Would also help explain the bizarre newspaper photo.
I am lead counsel for the Haitian TPS holders (I argued the case in SCOTUS). A nursing home filed an amicus brief in SCOTUS on this exact topic. Indeed, here is a cartoon from the New York Daily News, published the day after the SCOTUS ruling.

A thing about cluesbysam — I'm often not getting to the logic bc it's hard finding people & places on the grid. The worst is hunting for professions, but I also make row number mistakes, and spend a lot of time double checking my left, right, or edge/inside and just miss things. Is it just me?
Absolutely brazen. The president is making markets go up and down, trading in related stocks himself, and now he's selling a tier of faster access to his pronouncements. None of this should be legal. www.cnbc.com/2026/07/16/t...

I just want to once again note that congressional leaders don't do anything except lead their caucuses. They are not leaders of "the party." Parties have leaders when there is an incumbent president and in opposition are wildly decentralized things that barely exist.
i do not blame anyone for feeling this way, this isn’t a dunk, but *you* are in charge of the party. every local democratic party is three little old ladies who have been keeping the flame for 200 years waiting for someone to spell them, and all you need to do is put up chairs and bring coffee.
relatedly, I can accept that Jeffries and to an extent Schumer are good at a bunch of the procedural aspects of congressional leadership without wanting them to be the people in charge of the party.
Going through the cluesbysam community archive there are whole schools of puzzles that I just cannot penetrate. All these things that I think depend on chains of how many neighbors people have in different scenarios. If I had that kind of mind I'd be playing chess?
