Present: Heavy metal marketing and editorial stuff. Past: YouTube Music, writing words about music on the internet, Full Metal Hipster podcast.

Now would be a good time to sign up for the subscription tier or Patreon of 1 or 2 independent music sites you enjoy reading. The ad supported revenue model is dead. If you aren’t willing to pay for music writing you aren’t going to have access to it much longer.

“Music publications BrooklynVegan, Alternative Press, Revolver, and Goldmine have been gutted by parent company Veeps... Nearly all the staff at each publication appear to have been laid off yesterday. Veeps, which is now owned by Live Nation, acquired the publications in 2024 or 2025”

The dumbest, most insignificant and extremely specific thing that gets on my nerves is people doing cosplay at the Renaissance festival. Sorry but if you want to dress up for the Ren Fest it better be as a knave, bawdy wench, court jester, etc.

NYC taxpayer here and I don’t give a shit if my taxes subsidize a grocery store that I will probably never even use. In fact I’m glad my taxes are paying for them because their existence will help people who’re struggling and potentially force the grocery stores I do use to lower their prices.

Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.
