NYC taxpayer here and I don’t give a shit if my taxes subsidize a grocery store that I will probably never even use. In fact I’m glad my taxes are paying for them because their existence will help people who’re struggling and potentially force the grocery stores I do use to lower their prices.

It’s crazy how quickly the 1996 telecom act and corporate radio getting in on the alt rock boom wrecked modern rock radio. 1996 really felt like the final year it was cool and interesting. By the end of ‘97 the format had been fully bro-ified by corporate media.
