Absolutely fantastic short story here by Charles Stross, later brought into the novel Accelerando, with an amazing view of a post-singularity world of economics 2.0 and just so much more! Read the 'loose sequel' Glasshouse without realizing it was connected! Need more writing like this these days.

Saw a few drones at work at the beach in Korea last week, surveiling swimmers for safety issues and whatnot, and so we might be seeing more drones around demolition sites in Korea in the near future. Still quite the scifi image though, to me . . . . www.koreatimes.co.kr/amp/business...

Interesting thread for perspective on how some people in some fields are coming to understand the impact of new AI technology on their work. Probably a lot of important research waiting to be done examining this type of experience and the understandings that comes from all this experience.

Some initial thoughts, and a complicated mix of feelings. Wow. I mean, Erdos problems are cool (I genuinely mean that), I didn't know about the Jacobian conjecture before it got disproved. But this newest batch from OpenAI hits home in a way the previous announcements did not.

The conference is at an end but the digital humanities skeets at #dh2026 are still up and have a lot to say about some fascinating research projects and share some neat insights into visitors' experiences of Daejeon! Neat to see so many conference skeets circulating on here!

For the past week at #dh2026 we’ve watched people queue for hours in a heatwave to get into the very viral Sungsimdang Cake Boutique in #Daejeon As the conference ended I walked past and at 7pm there was no queue! A fab way to end the week. Can report the chocolate cake was 🤤

This has me wondering a bit about No Content Zone signs or No Instagram/TikTok Zone signs. I have seen some cafes that regulate photo taking with photo zones, and rules about allowing others to take photos in a place, but I am curious about the #LinguisticLandscape of content creation . . . .

as a society we are well past due in establishing No Content Zones where making shit for tiktok is explicitly forbidden
