Initial claims for unemploymnet this week were 197,000. HIgher than last week, but still below 200,000. It is clear that the economy is not great and people are suffering, but they are still not applying for UI. This should be a wakeup call that we need this program to work.

Business and professional services continue to trend up, while the Black youth unemployment rate is 26.8%. (It was 18.5% in March.) This is why we need to focus on addressing unemployment more broadly, not on a targeted AI-displacement focus.

This administration is trying to absolve itself of its responsibility to work with states to get them the tools they need to fight highly coordinated international criminals perpetrating increasingly sophisticated attacks. (thread below)

When this is all over, I propose we establish a fund to pay damages to those illegally harmed by ICE, funded by assets seized from those responsible, and if they are no longer alive, their estates. Similar to what we did for Japanese American internees, but not 50 years later.

Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.
