Here a compilation of stupid things library consultants have said to me in solidarity with library pals at Lambeth Libraries where genius consultants has decided that a qualified head of library service post isn't really essential.

World's okayest librarian. Co- founder of CALC (Critical Approaches to Libraries Conference). Would always rather be travelling. She/her.
As a man, why do you want to keep your last name? What does that do for you?
Officially worked at my current job for a year today 🎉 Zero regrets about leaving my previous employer. The definition of a toxic workplace.
Tbf I've had a speedy response to my email about this. They've passed it on to the IT team (who I imagine are very busy doing many other things with the website 😂).
Just finished my revalidation doc only to find there's no way to submit it. Classic CILIP!

Also would be interested in anything on grief and celebrity deaths and social media
Does anyone have any recommendations for writing/podcasts about popular culture depictions of death and grieving? Thinking especially about murder mystery TV shows - possibly the kind of death we mostly often see on screen?
I was thinking of going to Plymouth in early September for a short break. It is ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY POUNDS return on the train. So I guess I'll go overseas instead 🤷♀️
I just sprayed WD40 on my door to stop it squeaking (it worked), feel like I've unlocked a new level of adulthood.
OK, are we SURE CILIP aren't just trolling us all with this website?? Information Managers: The job is just looking at blank screens, apparently?
CORRECTION: You can actually get membership certificates going back a few years ago can really fill up that NRA!!!
Me: I'd just like to update my bank details online. CILIP: Um no but you can now download a membership certificate!!! I guess I'll get out the old National Record of Achievement then

Logged on to the new CILIP website and you still have to contact the finance team to update direct debit details... it's taken me about 3 weeks and counting so far to try and get someone on the phone to do this 😭
Librarians, assemble! Which do you think is the best library management system within a large education setting (with 5 large libraries?) Tell me your experiences and preferences! #libsky #lms #skybrarian #librarian #library
Ooh I know this one. It's by BANNING THE PERVERT GLASSES
Meta’s smartglasses mean any child can be covertly filmed. In the age of AI, how do we tackle that risk?
Also: Gabby deserves triple what all the pundits make combined for navigating those dynamics, though I guess Joe Hart should be able to claim danger money for standing between Micah and Wayne when Micah made the hair reference
I've had literally zero thoughts about Wayne Rooney before tonight but now I can't help but giggle every time I think of him deadpan saying "no I didn't like that" to everything Gabby asked. Half time show? No, didn't like that. Argentina? No, didn't like that. An icon.
Tuned in to watch Spain win, stayed to listen to Wayne Rooney being an absolute grouch 😂 (Also Micah Richards cos he's always the best!)
I'm in Norwich and it is RAINING. I'm wearing a CARDIGAN. What is happening??
If I were a nominally progressive political party and my policies on LGBT rights were being condemned by *establishment Christian organisations* as cruel, inhumane and regressive, I would probably ask myself what the hell I was doing @andyburnham.bsky.social
honestly, in bits here
I guess I should also share that @patchedelbows.bsky.social has been hard at work too, meaning you can watch Maria Planansky and Kevin Adams' talk on procurement and the prison industrial complex, also from #CALC26 🎉 youtu.be/oKVM_0_jlOE?...

Ooh if only I'd known how quickly they could solve such huge international issues, I deffo would have voted for them!!! 🙄
Great news everyone. Our Reform-led county council has solved the problem.
Delighted to also share @jofitz.bsky.social talking about "the open book accessibility model" at #CALC26. youtu.be/B6pLDDNhJhI?...

Older sister is a travel agent, could probably do it once I'd learned the systems (there's probs a lot of overlap with liaison librarian actually!). Brother is an accountant... I cannot reconcile my own budget so... yeah. Younger sister doesn't have a job due to her MS so no thanks on that.
Thought experiment- if you were suddenly appointed to do your sibling’s job, how badly would you suck at it?
Feel for Norway, imagine losing the match and then being subjected to Wonderwall.
The thing I really love about Wimbledon is the insistence that the on court interviews always include a question about how much the player loves Wimbledon and how privileged they feel to be there.
