I always get nervous for my flute lessons. There’s no reason - my teacher is great, supportive, and enjoyable to spend time with. I want to learn this instrument and it always goes well. So, anyway, flute lesson this morning, I’m going to go unnecessarily worry about it.

The airplane preachers have entered my nightmares. Last night I dreamt I had to go to CCD when I really wanted to go out to dinner with my family. I was pissed. Then I remembered I'm a midlife woman who left Catholicism decades ago so I can do what I want. I woke up feeling guilty.
Visited The Wetlands Institute in NJ today and now I’m having all kinds of crazy thoughts about 15 yo Michelle and her ocean science dreams. Like, what if I try a class or two at the community college and see what shakes out? (Someone tell me this is a bad idea.)
Saw a comment on threads that using an em dash gives good brain snuggles. I will forever be chasing good brain snuggles.
We are asking the weather to do a lot of heavy lifting tonight.
If a cage match isn't your preferred way of recognizing America's 250th, know that there's impactful protest art being made and performed all across the DMV. That's the kind of fight I'm looking for. www.thebanner.com/culture/arts...
Outside the nation’s capital, the divide between art and politics has never been thinner
As the country prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary, a growing number of local theaters, museums, artists and performers in the left-leaning suburbs of Washington are highlighting art that prot...

I enjoyed @lhistorienne.bsky.social ‘s book “Pirates of the Chesapeake Bay” so of course I had to listen to this episode. Currently reading “The Determined” by Rachel Rueckert, which, so far, is a good fictional complement to this discussion. open.spotify.com/episode/2AmC...

Reading a book about cephalopods and getting really frustrated w/ repeated tellings of the writer seemingly harassing the animals.
My flute group is working on Gariboldi 6 this week. Rough start tonight, ngl.
I love attending conferences in part because I always find myself surrounded by people who are doing truly connected and meaningful work. As a former PR hack, I've never really had that professional experience and I regret that.

Jaws 3 is on. The movie that made young Michelle want to be a marine scientist. Still think about doing that someday.
Pro tip: Wear your glasses while making breakfast otherwise you might sprinkle ground cumin instead of ground cinnamon on your perfectly toasted sour dough.

My apologies to the neighbors who were simply trying to enjoy a lovely afternoon on their deck. I had Jaws II on while I was working out and the blood curdling screams you heard coming from my house were teenagers being eaten by a shark. Should have kept the sliding door closed. My bad!

I know we've been doing this for a very long time now, but sometimes it hits me so hard that this is really happening. I'll never understand the depravity of the people who could stop this and choose not to.
Trump: "I took three cognitive tests. Aced all of them, by the way. I'm the only president to take a cognitive test. I don't think Obama could pass it. The first question is very easy -- it's a lion, a giraffe, a bear, and a shark. They say, 'Which one is the bear?'"

Repeatedly failed to log into a discussion group tonight. Tried everything and thought, oh sh*t, I’ve become so out of touch I can’t work technology. Turns out I can’t work a calendar. The discussion group is May 28th.
Just registered for this. It’s free (you can make a donation to the library) and it’s both in-person and virtual. Looking forward to the discussion.
