It's a hummingbird hawk-moth summer! There's been lots of sightings of the distinctive moth, which hovers over flowers to feed like a hummingbird. It's thought that, amongst other things, hot weather and strong winds have driven their spread northwards. 📷️: David Humphries

The first dahlias of the season putting on a spectacular display at Tyntesfield, Somerset. Whilst some are already in bloom, many more varieties are on their way, bringing even more colour and character to the beds over the coming weeks. 📸 Meg King

The wisteria at Melford Hall in Suffolk is having a second flower! Whilst not unusual, the amount we are seeing this year could be due to the stress caused by the prolonged hot and very dry weather. 📸 Zoe Bridges

This week, a wildfire has torn through Dunwich Heath in Suffolk, leaving the entire nature reserve devastated. An area of around 210 football pitches has been affected with rare habitats and wildlife lost in a matter of hours.

You know those live wildlife cameras we've got? Well, they've captured footage of something we didn't expect to see... A rare black-crowned night heron – a scarce visitor to the UK – so rare in the UK its distribution can’t be mapped. And we spotted it on our beaver cam.

Ever wondered what happens in the gardens after hours 👀 The Ranger team at Hardwick Hall have carried out the summer moth survey, and it’s good news! Among the 328 moths surveyed, there were 67 different species. This is brilliant news as moths are great indicators of a healthy ecosystem 🎉
