Solid review helpful for someone raising a toddler in the UK/Edinburgh system. Parents seem very hands-off overall in Japan.
New post out: "The gap that never closes" I've spent much of my career trying to reduce the rich/poor gap in education. Nothing's worked. Which has led me to the conclusion that we're thinking about inequality the wrong way... (£/free trial) open.substack.com/pub/samf/p/t...
We're extending the deadline for the #eBPF workshop at SOSP'26 by one week, to Friday the 26th of June. That leaves two weeks to finalize your papers!
@tianyigao.net and I just found clouds like AWS, GCP, Digital Ocean and Oracle pass packets with a non TCP/UDP number in the network header in their private network. This is not unsurprising given the network virtualization with middlebox features and good to see unosssified cloud networks.

Proud advisor moment of Shuo Li who successfully defended her PhD with minor corrections - she is now heading to NSDI to present her work next week!
Was super fun to learn ECN from K K Ramakrishnan visiting our dept!

Prism (NSDI'21) was great to bypass L7 proxy with TCP connection migration, but hard to deploy as it needs a programmable switch. XO (NSDI'26) removes this barrier and is applicable to real apps, nginx and Ceph! micchie.net/files/xo-nsd...

The election was announced just around a week ago and we can vote just over 5 days, poor Japan.
This is probably every Japanese wanted in UK! Maitame mushrooms have been only a part of mushroom mix, but we wanted just this one!
Some people say UK is not very child friendly, but I feel UK is when travelling back from France (Nice).
We're exploring how to move on from TLS/TCP in datacenters - check out our Oakland’26 paper* about encrypted message-based transport and NDSS’26 paper* about low latency, post quantum mTLS handshake! Congrats @tianyigao.net for ANRP! *https://micchie.net/pubs/
