Any argument about people coming to the United States and having *children, born citizens* here who are unfit or unwilling to make “liberal democracy and constitutional government possible” is just straight up gutter racism. That echoes what the Wong Kim Ark dissenters and the Insular Cases said.

The Land Dividend: How a Land Value Tax Can Fund a UBI

Why taxing the value of land is potentially the best tax for universal basic income by making housing cheaper, taxing AI indirectly, and pushing rents down instead of up

"A basic income guarantee is coming. One day we will wonder how we ever accepted a society without it. How was it that some people were denied the basics for a dignified life, while others were allowed to decimate our finite resources and amass exorbitant personal wealth?" #BasicIncome #BIG #GBI

COMMENTARY: A generational investment

Basic income guarantee’s moment can arise from the hopeful, democratic will of the community, writes Jane Ledwell

ICE and/or police murdered someone this morning in Biddeford, Maine. From the statements I’ve seen from local activists, I *think* the victim was a young Black man. You may already know Black immigrants are the largest non-white immigrant demo in Maine. A protest is already under way.

Witness says Biddeford shooting victim told police ‘I tried to stop’

One resident says he heard the shots and saw as agents pulled the man out of the vehicle.

Okay, last thing and then I swear I'm done. To me, this is disgusting. Not because being a ring girl is disgusting. Being a ring girl FOR UFC is disgusting. Go be a ring girl for a federation that doesn't suck fascist nuts. sports.yahoo.com/articles/wan...

“I wanna walk around that” - Dana White says Sophie Cunningham asked for her UFC ring girl moment on the spot

Cunningham’s appearance at UFC 329 is one of the year’s biggest sports crossovers.

If the content isn't being changed, shut up. "Oh, but Lucia--" I said shut up! One, adding additional content isn't the same as changing existing content. Two, satire requires reality as an anchor. Women are a part of the criminal underworld. A HUGE PART!

Masculine things don't stop being masculine when women show up. Only men who are dangerously insecure in their masculinity think that. If I look over and see a troop of guys at a Megan thee Stallion concert, I'm not going to cry like a little bitch that my femininity is in danger. It is NOT!

The problem is when women are terrorized for showing up. Hell, hypermasculine men of color are terrorized for showing up and they are the target audience! It has always been okay for men to like masculine things. It is never okay to chase people away by being an aggy weirdo.

Marvel Rivals is popular. Grand Theft Auto is popular. AEW is popular. The Fast and Furious series is popular. Kendrick is popular. Batman is popular. Dodge Chargers are popular. Combat boots are popular. And they all skew masculine. Nobody cares that men like these things!

I've submitted my comment. You can too. Even if you're not a scientist; I work in game design, but my market is science literate. This rule would be a disaster. It's a power grab to undermine the few bits of the government that give unfiltered advice to Congress and the Executive Branch.

The proposed rule would require ALL federal research grants to be approved by political appointees, instead of the current system of expert peer review. Research would be required to align with “Administration policies and priorities.” The deadline to comment is TODAY. Speak out now!

a thousand monster / dinosaur / megafauna movies since Jurassic Park have tried and failed to replicate its magic, but the thing Jurassic Park understood is that we aren’t just hooked by the Big Toothy Creature, we’re hooked by the moment a crotchety old grump rediscovers his sense of wonder

I remember the first time I saw "Jurassic Park" and how weird it felt when Neill's character got all emotional at real dinosaurs. Earlier he was threatening to slit a kid's throat with a raptor claw. He was the Main Guy Hero. Those don't show emotions! But he did, and it got me Thinking (C). RIP.
